  • I don't believe in Trump anymore, he's an illusion
The bill would impose new standards for wages, working hours and other conditions related to the health, safety and welfare of fast food restaurant workers.
AB 1228 applies to fast-food chains with at least 60 locations nationwide — except for those that make and sell their own bread.
The bill’s landmark change is a minimum wagehike to $20, starting April 1, 2024, almost $5 higher than the Golden State’s minimum wage of $15.50.

Newsome and the democrats in California are INSANE! This bill would cripple every large fast food chain in the state and will push the move to robotics and order kiosks into overdrive, it will force owner/operators to raise already high prices higher and to cut staffing to the absolute bare minimum. The socialists running this state seem to think that unskilled manual labor is worth $20, no doubt to be a 'living wage' whatever that means since they are driving the wage earners out of earning a wage. This is what happens when you have politicians that have never run a business or even understand basic economics passing laws on business. The MickeyD's owner/operator I worked for has I think six or seven locations now, that would mean the state would rob him of $1.5 to 1.75 million each and every year above and beyond what he already pays, and there are operators that own a lot more locations than that. The McDonald's Corp owns and operates very few of it own stores so it and it's share holders would be hit hard by the lower revenue this stupidity would cause.

What will he run on if he ran for president? Would he promise to do to America what he’s done to California?

A by-product of uneducated or under educated "immigrants" coming here who are displacing the teenagers who normally occupied these jobs.

I rarely eat out anymore due to the insane costs of products that in most cases, barely meet the definition of "food".

Portion sizes and quality are way down.

McDonald's just got into the bread baking business.

Those restaurants generate employee income taxes, customer meals taxes, property taxes, and God knows what other tax Kalifornia may invent.

He would continue to prey on the staggering ignorance of voters.  What amazes me is most people cannot trace consumer prices back to labor costs.  It's like they imagine the franchise owner has a money printing machine in the back office, and he only raises prices because he's mean.

Exactly.  And that goes for any business, not just restaurant franchisees.

That he handily survived his recall  confirms this  statement.

Two things driving food prices tight now, labor costs and fuel/shipping costs are key causes of inflation.  All of this Dem nonsense is driving those.

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. All this will do is tick off alot of usually non-political people. Keep at it Gov Nuisance.

But those people then just pack up and leave the state

What does baking bread have to do with anything?

McDonald's ought to start baking (and offering for sale in their restaurants) their own line of hamburger rolls.

Then watch the Kalifornia leftists squirm...

Well there was a time when we made our biscuits by scratch and baked them all in store, before they had mass produced frozen biscuits brought in. If biscuits count as bread maybe they should go back to in house production.

The restaurant can buy frozen pre-made unbaked rolls. Pop 'em in the oven, and there you are. Fresh-baked bread products.
