Proud Boy Joe Biggs on Thursday was sentenced to 17 years in prison, the second highest sentence handed down to anyone convicted in connection with the Capitol attack.

Biggs was convicted of sedition and other serious felonies earlier this year after being accused of leading members of the right-wing extremist group to the Capitol and talking with the first rioter to breach police barricades just minutes before he acted.

The Florida Army veteran appeared in court Thursday wearing an orange prison-issued jumpsuit with a white undershirt and black thick-frame glasses, his white hair styled into a mohawk and beard outgrown.

Addressing the court, Biggs said he is “sick and tired of left versus right,” and that the only group he wants to be a part of in the future is his daughter’s parent-teacher association.

“I know I messed up that day, but I’m not a terrorist,” he said through tears.

Gross violation of the 8th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution...the punishment imposed is way out of proportion to the nature of the crime (reportedly) committed.  These DC based judges are way out of control, and imposing these unduly harsh sentences to make an example out of these folks.

Proud Boy Zachary Rehl was sentenced Thursday to 15 years in prison after being convicted of leading an inflamed mob toward the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, in an attempt to stop the certification of the 2020 election results.

Addressing the court Thursday, the former Philadelphia Proud Boys chapter president said he let politics consume his life, causing him to “lose track of who and what mattered most.”

Jan 6., he said, was a “despicable day.”

“I’m done with politics, done with peddling lies for other people who don’t care about me,” Rehl said, taking breaks from speaking to wipe his tears and catch his breath.

Somebody please remind me when the last black riot leader was put on trial and given such  a harsh  sentence for actually creating a riot.

AND,IIRC,it was undercover FEEBS that were the ones encouraging rioting,not the protestors. How many of THOSE goobers and their bosses are even going to be charged with  loitering,never mind inciting a riot?

Thanks for posting that.  So it seems that SCOTUS has gone back and forth on the issue through the decades?  I think the Conservatives on wrong though.  17 years for knocking down a fence is "cruel and barbaric," in light of the far worse that was being done by ANTIFA and BLM in 2020 and 2021.

A man just got 17 years in prison for tearing down a fence on January 6. Meanwhile a guy responsible for burning an entire police station to the ground during the BLM riots got only 4 years. No sane person thinks this is justice.

Proud Boy Ethan Nordean on Friday was sentenced to 18 years in prison for his role in the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol attack — a tie for the longest sentence handed down in connection with the riot.

A Washington state chapter leader of the right-wing extremist group, Nordean was convicted of seditious conspiracy and other serious felonies in May. He served as a leader in a special Proud Boys chapter called the Ministry of Self Defense, a group made up of “real men” dispatched to D.C. on Jan. 6, 2021.

Nordean said Friday that he now views Jan. 6 as a “complete and utter tragedy,” according to the Associated Press.

“To anyone who I directly or even indirectly wronged, I’m sorry,” he told the court.

U.S. District Judge Timothy Kelly applied a terrorism enhancement to his sentencing guidelines, according to a Justice Department (DOJ) release.

Proud Boy Dominic Pezzola sobbed in a Washington, D.C., courtroom Friday as he asked a federal judge for leniency in his Jan. 6 sentence and vowed to stay out of politics in the future.

However, after receiving a 10-year prison sentence, Pezzola reportedly raised his fist and shouted, “Trump won,” as he left the courtroom, according to WUSA.

The 46-year-old, who smashed a Capitol window with a stolen police riot shield, stood trial alongside four other members of the Proud Boys earlier this year in one of the most high-profile cases related to the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the Capitol.

The group faced seditious conspiracy charges for leading efforts to disrupt Congress’s certification of the 2020 election, following former President Trump’s loss to then-President-elect Joe Biden.

Pezzola, a recent Proud Boy recruit, was the only one of the five to be acquitted of seditious conspiracy. However, he was convicted of assaulting, resisting or impeding a police officer, robbery of government property and destruction of government property.

Andy Ngô:  In response to Proud Boys members sentenced to 17 & 15 years in prison federally for Jan. 6 riot-related crimes, some have asked me what the longest sentence was for a leftist rioter who committed federal crimes in Portland in 2020. BLM-Antifa hero Malik Muhammed, of Indianapolis, was sentenced to 10 years in federal prison for using explosives to try to commit attempted mass murder in Portland. When his local bail was set at $2.1m, a Portland leftist group paid it to get him out.

Non-violent January 6 Defendant, Nejourde Meacham, Dies at 22; Suicide Suspected

Nejourde Meacham, a 22-year-old non-violent defendant charged with entering the U.S. Capitol on during the January 6, 2021, riot, has died while facing prosecution for four misdemeanors in what may have been a suicide.

According to the U.S. Department of Justice, Meacham traveled to Washington, D.C., with his uncle, Odin. Both attended the “Stop the Steal” rally at the Washington Monument before proceeding to the U.S. Capitol. Odin was arrested in May this year and charged with violent felonies, including attacking police officers with a wooden pole.

But Nejourde “Jord” Meacham was never accused of violence. The federal complaint against him includes several photos of him wandering around outside and inside the Capitol building holding a “Trump 2020” flag. It states that he walked into the U.S. Capitol, then “walked to a broken southern window, looked out, and raised his ‘TRUMP 2020’ flag.” He was later escorted out of the building by law enforcement. He did nothing violent or destructive.

After an obituary for Jord Meacham was posted online, Julie Kelly, who has reported extensively on the January 6 trials, tweeted that she had been “told by a very reliable source” that he had committed suicide:
