Driver, 19, dead in gnarly crash that sent car engine flying through home after fleeing from cops

A 19-year-old man died after he crashed his car while fleeing from Massachusetts police — with the impact so violent that it sent the vehicle’s engine flying through the second floor of a nearby home, officials said.

Massachusetts State Police caught the driver, who has yet to be publicly identified, speeding near the intersection of Routes 9 and 202 in Belchertown, on Sunday night, WWLP reported.

The driver of the 2011 Nissan Altima then sped away from police, driving through a red light and crashing into a mulch bed on the curb, causing the car to go airborne.

The flying vehicle went on to strike a rock wall, a large tree and a light post before slamming into a 2023 Jeep Wrangler parked on North Main Street and hitting a nearby home.

Police said the force of the crash was so great, the Altima’s engine block was knocked out of the vehicle, going airborne itself and flying into the second floor of a brick home at 73 North Main St.

I saw the immediate after-effects of an accident sort of like this that did involve a V-8.  Damned thing didn't hit a house, but it did take out two telephone poles.
