Former Attorney General Bill Barr has floated the idea of home detention for Donald Trump should he be convicted of criminal conspiracy or classified documents crimes – raising the prospect of a former president serving time at a gilded prison he terms the 'winter White House.'
Barr made the comment in yet another revealing interview where he spoke about his departure from the Trump White House amid Trump's election overturn effort, and argued the former president was not entitled to 'immunity' during his reelection bid.
Trump's lawyers argued in a new filing to push his trial date in the January 6 case back to 2026.
Fox News host Neil Cavuto asked Barr Thursday how the Secret Service would contend with a prison sentence for their protectee, as Trump faces four criminal trials.
'Well, there's ways of having custody without putting him in facilities, you know, in federal facilities. You can have home detention and other things,' Barr responded.
