A new court document revealed Special Counsel Jack Smith obtained access to Donald Trump's Twitter account - including private messages and draft tweets - after securing a secret search warrant amid his investigations into the former president.
Smith is investigating Trump for alleged crimes to obstruct the 2020 election results and also for his mishandling of classified documents.
The new filing reveals he was able to gain access to Trump's private direct messages, draft tweets and other information connected to his former account, '@RealDonaldTrump' as Smith continues his investigation.
The special counsel had obtained a secret search warrant in January to scour Trump's Twitter account to dig for evidence of criminal offenses related to his alleged efforts to subvert the 2020 election.
A judge then fined Elon Musk's social media giant $350,000 for initially refusing to comply, according to documents released last week. The company, now known as 'X,' was also barred from telling Trump about the warrant.
