How was he supposed to get there if he couldn't get there?
In 1976, Mr. M had a ticket to a Harry Chapin concert in Charleston, WV, but snow prevented Harry from flying in. Concertgoers at the hall received word that they could get a refund if they wanted, but he'd try to get there eventually. Most left, settling for the refund.
He had someone drive him, arriving 3 or 4 hours late with no band - just him and his guitar. The 20 or so who stuck around were treated to an intimate concert. He invited them to sit with him onstage as he performed his set. Doing "Taxi," he sang, "She said ..." and the audience responded, singing, "How are you, Harry?"
A fond memory of Mr. M.
