The American Civil Liberties Union is filing federal civil rights complaints against schools that ensure students compete in events and use the bathrooms according to their biological sex.

The American Civil Liberties Union of Texas filed two federal civil rights complaints against a Fort Worth-area public charter school and Keller Independent School District for “adopting anti-LGBTQIA+ policies.”

The ACLU accused the Fort Worth Academy of Fine Arts and Keller ISD of violating Title IX policies by requiring students to compete and use the bathrooms and locker rooms according to their biological sex.

“We urge the federal government to intervene and end these discriminatory policies before they can further harm and stigmatize LGBTQIA+ students,” said Chloe Kempf, the ACLU of Texas attorney. “[Fort Worth Academy of Fine Arts and Keller ISD] have banned students from using the facilities and from participating in the activities that align with who they are, all the while subjecting them to harassment and bullying.”
