Strongest sign yet Australia headed toward totally cashless society
By Joe Attanasio

It appears Australia is truly on its way to becoming a cashless society, with the number of notes in circulation officially declining for the first time since dollars and cents were introduced in 1966.

According to data from the Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA), more than a billion dollars worth of physical cash disappeared from circulation in the last financial year, a shift that's likely to make life more difficult for the elderly and for those in the regions.

Authorities say less cash will also hurt the nation's criminals, who rely heavily on its use, making it harder for them to make transactions undetected. ...

Australia has become very worrisome to me; it is headed fast toward the slippery slope of authoritarianism.  I still remember a discussion I had with an Australian regarding their constitution - which largely cribs from our constitution - and their lack of a bill of rights, the upshot of which was:  when you can get a bill of rights passed, you don't need it (thus the pressure to get it is reduced), and when you need a bill of rights, you cannot get it.

Australians will, sooner or later, rue the fact that in 1901 they did not include a Bill of Rights with their constitution.

It's sad that nations with which we so much in common, e.g. Australia, Canada, have no free speech or exercise of religion protection.

How will tourist that visit there manage, using credit cards?

What if,like some people, don't like/won't use credit cards because they leave a trail of everywhere you have been and most of what you have done? Which is really at the root of why governments want a cashless society.

That, and when they go to a central bank digital currency, the government will know not only what you buy, but actually decide what you are permitted to buy. "We're sorry, but you attempted to purchase ammunition. That is not permissible. Oh, and don't even think of buying another six-pack of beer so soon after the last one."

Given how governments abused their powers during the pandemic to restrict your freedoms, how do you feel about moving to a cashless society where biometrics or microchip implants will be forced upon you for you to be able to buy things? Will you comply?

Well, they are NOT "Getting  ready" to be taken over by  the Chinese, but that IS what is eventually  going  to happen. The US damn sure isn't going to stop  them, and the Japanese aren't strong enough militarily.

@sneakypete  A few days ago, Glenn Beck played an audio clip of one of Schwab's WEF flunkies expressly admitting that's what this central bank digital currency is all about - government control over what people will be permitted to purchase, and he actually  mentioned ammunition and liquor.

Sometimes I really,REALLY wish  I were 50 years younger,so I could "take it" to them.

Now,if I live long enough,I am going to have to figure out a way to get them to come to me.

It has never occurred to that woman that once that system is in place and in universal use,she will be OWNED by the government because EVERY move she makes will be recorded and catalogued.

She will be OWNED.
