Fire-Ravaged Fremantle Highway Ship Carrying 20 Times More EVs Than Thought

It's been confirmed that the Fremantle Highway cargo ship that caught alight late last month had far more electric vehicles on board than we thought. Initially, it was understood that there were only 25 EVs on the ship, but Automotive News Europe reports that there were actually 498 EVs on the stricken ship.

Although the cause of the blaze was initially unknown, RTL, a Dutch broadcaster, released a transcript from an emergency responder that said, "The fire started in the battery of an electric car."

In an official statement from K Line, the carrier's operator, there were said to be 3,784 cars on board in total - including multiple BMW and Mercedes-Benz models - also much higher than the number presumed initially. This is still far below the 6,000-car capacity of the vessel.

What's kind of disturbing about this is that the EVs were new. They had not been exposed to improper user and public chargers, or to traffic accidents or road hazards that damaged or exposed the battery packs to mechanical shock & vibration. The things are new from the factory!

Or the unlucky losers who happen to have parked in a parking structures when one of those EV's...has a fever? In 2020 there as a major fire at the Norway airport triggered by an EV.

In preliminary reports, it was quoted that "local police were notified at about 3:30 p.m. that an electric car was on fire in the parking garage. I would think after one or two more "at sea" fires on ocean-going vessels that carry autos.

Either the insurers will demand as a condition of underwriting that NO electric vehicles be carried at all, or they may include some kind of stipulation (may or may not be enforceable) that if EV's are carried, and if it can be shown that a ship was damaged or lost as a result of an EV-generated fire, that the policy wouldn't pay.

They won't.

We all know that World-Wide Government wants electric cars to be our future  because it will be easier to control our movements,so what is going to happen is the gooberments  will subsidize the insurance companies when it comes to electric car damage.

In the end,only the trusted flunkies of the elites will be able to own electric cars,and everybody else will bicycle,walk,or take public transportation everywhere they have to go.

Chances are they will even control news stories about electric car fires.
