An international affair
« on: July 28, 2023, 12:36:25 am »
Houston Chronicle by Jeremy Wallace

Gov. Greg Abbott’s buoy system in the Rio Grande is putting a strain on U.S. relations with Mexico.

In new court filings, the U.S. Justice Department warned that Mexico has lodged formal protests at the “highest diplomatic levels” and canceled a previously scheduled meeting about other matters related to the Rio Grande over the buoy barrier, which they say violates treaties between the two nations.

But Abbott isn’t budging. On Wednesday, he was defending the buoy system on ultra-conservative networks like Newsmax and blaming the Biden administration for making Texas have to do all the things it is doing.

“Texas is stepping up as the fighter for the freedom and sovereignty of this country, and we need the United States to step up and do its job,” Abbott said.

Defending a border, "violates treaties between the two nations"? :bsflag:  :bsflag:  :bsflag:  :bsflag:  :bsflag:  :bsflag: Quote the treaties, with chapter-and-verse.
If, as anti-Covid-vaxxers claim, https://www.poynter.org/fact-checking/2021/robert-f-kennedy-jr-said-the-covid-19-vaccine-is-the-deadliest-vaccine-ever-made-thats-not-true/ , https://gospelnewsnetwork.org/2021/11/23/covid-shots-are-the-deadliest-vaccines-in-medical-history/ , The Vaccine is deadly, where in the US have Pfizer and Moderna hidden the millions of bodies of those who died of "vaccine injury"? Is reality a Big Pharma Shill?

Millions now living should have died. Anti-Covid-Vaxxer ghouls hardest hit.

F'K Mexico, they have never been concerned about relations with America, especially when it come to illegal immigration and drug and other contraband smuggling across the border. If they cared about anything other than the money flowing into the government coffers and the pockets of Mexican officials from the cartels and Mexican illegals in the US I have never seen it.  9999hair out0000

I have read that. But I'm not convinced that the "flow" of the river is impeded. Bank access between one side an another, yes. However, I just saw an article that showed pictures of the illegals wading through the river to get around it.

It's not. In your reading of the treaty did you come across anything like: Prohibit the construction of works which may cause deflection or obstruction of the normal flow of illegal aliens from Mexico to the United States?

Maybe so, but since the treaty is being invoked, the people who have to be convinced are the people to whom implementation and enforcement of the treaty has been entrusted.  That is almost certainly the competent authorities of the two governments.

Competent authorities implies there are no politics involved.

I know the answer when it comes to the Brandon administration, there are no apolitical authorities, but competent authorities in Mexico?
