NYC may see blackouts sooner than thought — thanks to the state’s loony green agenda

By NY Post Editorial Board

Uh-oh: Blackouts may be coming to New York sooner than thought, courtesy of the state’s insane green agenda.

The New York Independent System Operator, which oversees the grid, just reported that Gotham would be vulnerable to power shortages by as soon as 2025, if the phase-out of natural-gas-fired “peaker” power plants (those used during periods of high demand) continues as scheduled.

The plants are supposed to be replaced by green-energy sources, such as solar, wind and hydroelectric plants upstate.

But these supplies might not be available in time and bottlenecks in the transmission network may prevent the out-of-town power from getting here.

The Champlain Hudson Power Express transmission line, for example, which is to carry hydro power from northern Quebec to New York City, delayed its in-service date to 2026.
