16 false Trump electors face felony charges in Michigan

 Attorney General Dana Nessel is leveling felony charges against 16 Republicans who signed a certificate falsely stating that Donald Trump won Michigan's 2020 presidential election, launching criminal cases against top political figures inside the state GOP.

Each of the 16 electors, including former Michigan Republican Party Co-Chairwoman Meshawn Maddock and Shelby Township Clerk Stan Grot, will be charged with eight felony counts, including forgery and conspiracy to commit election law forgery, according to an announcement from Nessel's office.

The revelation capped six months of investigation and produced the most serious allegations yet in Michigan over the campaign to overturn Trump's loss to Democrat Joe Biden in 2020. Biden won the state by 154,000 votes or 3 percentage points, but Trump and his supporters maintained false and unproven claims that fraud swung the result.............

This really sucks.

It sounds like some of those poor people were conned into signing these statements by some local GOP politicos and/or Trump campaign people.  Now they're screwed.  Pure vindictiveness for the state to be going after them given that nobody was really fooled into thinking these were the duly selected electors.  It was clearly intended as a political statement by most of the folks who signed.

I'm starting to see a bit of a double standard with all the massive concern for Trump having charges filed against him, whereas ordinary people who thought they were sticking up for him are getting hammered without a word from the guy.  These are real people who lives may be ruined now because someone convinced them to file those b.s. certificates.

Educate yourself @Maj. Bill Martin  Read this article in full.  There are no "fake" electors or "bs certificates".  There is, however, long-standing precedent for alternate electors.

The 2020 Georgia situation mirrors events of 60 years ago in Hawaii, revealing that everything the media have said about ‘fake electors’ is wrong.
