US voters bitter about nation’s direction, 74% say it’s on the wrong track

By Carl Campanile
June 25, 2023

Voters are souring on the state of the nation, with a stunning 74% saying the US is on the wrong track, according to a survey released Sunday.

The NBC poll found just 20% of respondents say America is moving in the right direction.

The last time voters were that bitter about the nation’s course — in 1992 and 2008 — the party in control of the White House changed hands, NBC’s Chuck Todd noted in unveiling the results.

In each of those elections, Democrats Bill Clinton and Barack Obama snatched the Oval Office back from Republicans.

The same poll sees a likely rematch between Democratic President Biden and former President Donald Trump.

And here comes the GOP, swooping in with Trump, to once again snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

Majority of Americans said that the country was on the wrong track in 2012, and Barack Obama still won reelection
I have little interest in streamlining government or in making it more efficient, for I mean to reduce its size. I do not undertake to promote welfare, for I propose to extend freedom. My aim is not to pass laws, but to repeal them.

A rematch that DJT will lose as nothing has been done to ensure election integrity.  The leftists stole the election once there's no way they are going to let go of their power.  That cannot be emphasized enough.
Romans 12:16-21

Live in harmony with one another; do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly, do not claim to be wiser than you are.  Do not repay anyone evil for evil, but take thought for what is noble in the sight of all.  If it is possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all…do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

It's increasingly clear to me that powers that be don't GAF what the voters think about anything!
"I wish it need not have happened in my time," said Frodo.

"So do I," said Gandalf, "and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us."

This wrong-track rating was around 74% or worse during the midterms… and we know how those turned out.

:yowsa: Thanks for so perfectly illustrating my point @ScottinVA

Bitter about the direction this country is going??  Actually I'm downright disgusted and pizzed; one at our SCOTUS for allowing an election to be stolen and secondly towards 535 members of Congress that are allowing an evil demented president to continue!

This kind of poll is inherently ambiguous when it comes to reading the tea leaves for elections, though.  Are people angry at the push for transgenderism, or are those leftists who support it upset at the direction of the country because they think it includes a conservative backlash?  You have such fundamentally different worldviews that all sorts of people might be unhappy at the direction of the country for a  variety of often-contradictory reasons.

In case you haven't noticed @libertybele I'm right there with you on ALL of that! December 11, 2020, the day this once great republic finally died.

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

I'm just surprised that that many people think it is still on the rails at all.

And what percentage of those think it's on the wrong track because it hasn't gone leftist enough?
