“As we wrap up the observance celebration of #Juneteenth we switch gears in honoring all those who partake in #PrideMonth. Join us later this month as we come all together for the Respect, Service and Dignity as the Division MEO team hosts the Pride Month Observance Event,” the Twitter account for the 82nd Airborne, once known for ‘Death From Above’ now known for its delightful rainbow colors.

From Juneteenth to Pride Month to a military no longer interested in winning wars.

Servicemembers, past and present, were not happy.

That’s when Sgt. Maj. Michael Grinston jumped in to threaten everyone.

@Kamaji

He IS his master's "little bitch".

Somebody PLEASE tell me he wasn't a career branch infantry  NCO.

btw,I looked him up,and he was a career cannon cocker before he became a career sissy-boy.

Yet,SOMEHOW,he managed to get to Bronze Star awards for valor in combat,and one for sucking off his colonel (probably).

I would be VERY interested in reading the citations for those two that were for valor.

I was completely unaware of the Army having enlisted officers!

@Bigun

ALL branches of the US military have "Non-Commissioned Officers".

I  used to be one myself. Was offered a chance twice to become a Commissioned officer,but those guys didn't have NEARLY  as much fun as NCO's have. Too much "wearing red and marching in a straight line" to suit me.

Some days on overseas deployments, I would even put on a USAF Fatigue shirt and "become" a USAF NCO. The USAF eats VERY well,even on deployments,and with flights coming in at all hours with nobody knowing anybody else,it was very easy to slip in for a tasty meal and a cup or 3 of genuine perked coffee.

Officers normally can't do that sort of thing,but I DID know a second Lt that got promoted to 1st Lt for stealing a USAF 3/4 ton truck,loading it full of stolen USAF air-conditioners,and then driving it on the C-130 that flew supplies to our camp.

Frankly,I still have a hard time believing the army actually wanted me to be an officer. I am just not a "wear red and march in a straight  line" type  of person.

Threats against other military personnel in itself is likely punishable under the UCMJ.

Yeah, @sneakypete  I am a former NCO myself, but I always associated the word "Officer" with the commissioned type.

@Bigun

I honestly don't think most people have any idea of the freedoms enjoyed by NCO's that commissioned officers just don't have regardless of their  rank.

Probably not.  But then I've never seen any Sergeant Major in the upper echelons listen to the sound advice from a member of his PAO staff.

The people I was referring to  as officers WERE actual commissioned officers.

BTW,what FOB were you assigned to when  you were in VN?

I was assigned to 53rd Signal Battalion STRATCOM but worked at MACV headquarters for SOG the entire time I was in country. @sneakypete

@Bigun

LOL! I spent my first 3 months in VN assigned to a straight leg reserve signal battalion at Nha Trang. I arrived in VN  on profile with a dislocated shoulder and a pulled muscle in my lower back. I was actually wearing a sling for my right arm. Had some sort of drunken minor misunderstanding with some MP's my last week at Bragg,and ended up having to jump a ditch to get away from them. Being drunk and it being dark did nothing to improve my depth perception. The thing that scared me the most was the possibility my orders for VN would get pulled because of the profile. There is no getting around it,life at Bragg flat sucked.

SGM George Odom was a friend of mine from the 1st on Okie,and I went  to him and got him to promise to send somebody to come pick me up and  bring me back to the SFOB the same day my profile expired,and sure enough,a jeep from the 5th Group headquarters showed up that morning with orders sending me back "home". LOTS of really good people in that leg signal battalion,but the NCO's and officers sucked.

Anyway,once I was back at 5th group headquarters,SGM Odom was the Group SGM ,and he asked me where I  wanted to be assigned,and I told him SOG,so off to Kontum I  went. Don't regret a moment  of it to this very day.

Not that it made any real difference where you were assigned to in a SF Group,as long as it wasn't a Signal Company or a Headquarters Company. Too much wearing red,walking in a straight line,and saluting going on there to suit me.

The PLAN was for me to serve a tour,and then get transferred back to the 1st SFG on Okie,but getting medi-evaced half-way through  my first extension put an end to that.

I guess you  were based in Saigon? Beautiful place with  a lot of excitement going on. The pedi-cab traffic through one of the traffic circles seemed more dangerous than combat. I have no idea why there wasn't several deaths a day from the mixture of bicycles,Japanese Taxi's,military trucks,and familes of 3 on a Honda 90,all trying to beat each other to any opening that popped up. There didn't seem to be ANY traffic rules at all. Went there a couple of times on stand-down.

I was at Tan Son Nhut Air Base for several months before we all moved to a shiny brand-new headquarters building in Long Binh. My job was to provide and maintain some very special commo gear to SOG as needed. Other than the guys who ended up using it and the guys who maintained it there were probably less than twenty people on earth who knew that stuff existed. @sneakypete

Wasn't Long Binh down by 4 corps? I had to go there once to see a USAF tropical disease specialist,and it was so freaking hot I though I was going to melt. Sure,the buildings were all air-conditioned,but walking out of one was a real shock to the system. I am SOOOO glad I was never assigned to 4 Corps.

It would get chilly at night  up in the mountains where we operated,and we would sometimes have to wrap up on a poncho  liner to stay warm. I have no idea how the grunts in 4 Corps dealt  with it.

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. Long Binh was located east of the Đồng Nai river, twelve miles northeast of Saigon and about four miles southeast from Biên Hòa Air Base. @sneakypete

I was HOT all the time there but luckily, I got out to other places with some regularity.
