Blinken says US 'does not support Taiwan independence' during China visit
Secretary of State Antony Blinken said the US has 'deep concern' over some of the 'provocative actions' China has taken
By Andrew Mark Miller | Fox News

Secretary of State Antony Blinken reiterated U.S. support of the "One China" policy on Monday, saying that the U.S. does not support Taiwanese independence following a meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping.

"We do not support Taiwan independence," Blinken said in a press conference on Monday. "We remain opposed to any unilateral changes to the status quo by either side. We continue to expect the peaceful resolution of cross strait differences. We remain committed to continuing our responsibilities under the Taiwan Relations Act including making sure Taiwan has the ability to defend itself."

"At the same time, we and many others have deep concerns about some of the provocative actions that China has taken in recent years going back to 2016," Blinken added. "And the reason that this is a concern for so many countries, not just the United States, is that were there to be a crisis over Taiwan, the likelihood is that could produce an economic crisis that could affect quite literally the entire world."

"Fifty percent of commercial container traffic goes through the Taiwan Strait every day. Seventy percent of semiconductors are manufactured in Taiwan. If as a result of a crisis that was taken offline, it would have dramatic consequences for virtually every country around the world," he added.

The Chinese dissed Blinken on his arrival, while they gave Emmanuel Macron the royal treatment.

The question is whether this is a change from the position the U.S. has historically taken, or a reiteration of the position the U.S. has historically taken.

BREAKING: Secretary of State Anthony Blinken gives China the green light to invade Taiwan during his visit to Beijing, China.
"We do not support Taiwan independence." What a pivot from Biden’s previous comments from just months ago. What happened?
"Yes, if in fact, there was an unprecedented attack,” Biden said after being asked if he would defend Taiwan from a Chinese invasion.

Not as deep as your pockets.
"The most terrifying force of death, comes from the hands of Men who wanted to be left Alone. They try, so very hard, to mind their own business and provide for themselves and those they love. WATCH: Blinken in China Says ‘We Do Not Support Taiwan Independence’

Ben Wilson
June 19, 2023
Secretary of State Antony Blinken said the United States does not "support Taiwan independence" during his trip to Beijing this week, clarifying U.S. policy toward Taiwan that President Joe Biden himself has been unclear on.

Defend SCOTUS
"We do not support Taiwan independence," Blinken said Monday. "We remain opposed to any unilateral changes to the status quo by either side."

Blinken added that the United States continues to "expect the peaceful resolution" of the countries' differences but that America also "remain committed" to "making sure that Taiwan has the ability to defend itself." Blinken is the first U.S. cabinet-level official to visit China since 2019 and ended the trip on Monday with an unexpected meeting with Chinese president Xi Jinping.

Biden has made conflicting statements on U.S. policy toward Taiwan. He said in September 2022 that the United States would come to Taiwan's defense in the case of a Chinese invasion, drawing anger from China. He made a similar comment in 2021—in both cases the White House walked back the remarks.

"We do not support Taiwan's independence and will stand by their side against any Chinese aggression to insure they don't get it."  Am I missing something here?

Talk about political mumbo jumbo!! :da man:

"1) Interesting 🤔

Secretary of State Blinken just returned from his visit with Chinese President Xi, and he claims the Biden regime do NOT support Taiwan independence. A quick turnaround from Biden’s promise to use US troops to defend Taiwan from China in September, 2022." (Video)

"2) Here is Biden’s statements and positions on Taiwan in late 2022.

Formerly comparing any Chinese advancements into Taiwan as akin to the conflict in Ukraine. I'm not sure what happened, but somewhere between then and now, the Biden regime changed their tune."  (Video)

Saying nothing at all would have been a thousand times better than this.
If a political party does not have its foundation in the determination to advance a cause that is right and that is moral, then it is not a political party; it is merely a conspiracy to seize power.     -Dwight Eisenhower-

"The [U.S.] Constitution is a limitation on the government, not on private individuals ... it does not prescribe the conduct of private individuals, only the conduct of the government ... it is not a charter for government power, but a charter of the citizen's protection against the government."     -Ayn Rand-

Blinken Bends The Knee To Xi In Beijing Visit, Fails To Secure Key Military Communication Deal

Dylan Housman
Chief Foreign Affairs Correspondent
June 19, 2023 2:01 PM ET

Secretary of State Antony Blinken made a long-anticipated trip to China in mid-June, making several key concessions to the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and failing to secure a key military communication agreement.

Blinken left for China on Friday and will make his return Wednesday, but has already met with Chinese President Xi Jinping, Director of the CCP Central Foreign Affairs Office Wang Yi and Foreign Minister Qin Gang. Blinken made the trip with the goal of “stabilizing” U.S.-China relations and repeatedly emphasized the Biden administration was not seeking conflict with Beijing.

Blinken said one of his foremost goals was to open up a line of military-to-military direct communication for times of crisis. Despite the priority team Biden placed on this request, the CCP once again turned down the offer, Blinken said Monday.
