It is not immediately clear what the charges are that Nauta is facing.

An aide to former President Donald Trump, Walt Nauta, has been charged by the special counsel as part of their probe into Trump’s alleged taking of classified information, sources tell ABC News.

Nauta, a former valet in the Trump White House who left his role to join the former president as a personal aide in early 2021, was indicted by the same grand jury in Florida that indicted Trump on Thursday, the sources say.

It is not immediately clear what the exact charges are and an attorney for Nauta declined to comment when contacted by ABC News.

A federal grand jury voted to indict Trump on at least seven federal charges late Thursday as part of an investigation into his handling of classified documents, sources familiar with the matter told ABC News. The indictment comes after more than 100 documents with classified markings were found at Trump's Mar-a-Lago resort in August 2022.

This is unbelievable, anyone having anything to do with Trump they will try to prosecute.

Apparently they tried to bribe him for his testimony, he refused and has now been indicted.

Well, whatever they charge him with, you just summarized the offense.

This is to take the attempted bribery allegations off the table.

They sure did ---  they tried to bribe his attorney:

DOJ Offered Lawyer for Trump Valet Help With Judgeship, Wanted Cooperation

Stanley Woodward, a lawyer for former President Donald Trump's valet, reportedly claims in court papers that a top federal prosecutor brought up his application for a judgeship while trying to gain the valet's cooperation in the Mar-a-Lago documents case.

In a report in The Guardian newspaper, Woodward was identified as the lawyer. He represents Walt Nauta — the valet who has been under scrutiny over his accounts of whether he moved boxes of documents at Trump's Mar-a-Lago estate in South Florida, according to NBC News.

The Guardian said Woodward's claim was made in a letter filed under seal with the chief federal judge in Washington.

The newspaper claimed that Jay Bratt, chief of counterintelligence for the Justice department, brought up the judgeship during a November meeting with Woodward. At the time, prosecutors wanted to convince Nauta to cooperate with the government against Trump, the letter reportedly said.

Prosecutors had reportedly warned the lawyer that Nauta should cooperate and was at risk of a false statement charge because of conflicting testimony.

According to The Guardian, the letter reportedly claimed that Bratt told Woodward that he did not think that Woodward was a "Trump guy" and that "he would do the right thing".
