Why this African-born surgeon helped defeat ‘unfair’ DEI at top medical school

Conservative activist Kenny Xu, who’s fighting what he says are harmful diversity, equity and inclusion practices at US medical schools, says he’s notched another anti-DEI win at the University of North Carolina — with the help of a renowned, African-born, US-based heart surgeon.

Xu persuaded Harvard-trained Dr. Nche Zama, 66, who was born in the Republic of Cameroon and immigrated alone to the US at age 14 with just $20, to speak at one of the anti-DEI events Xu organized in Chapel Hill in February aimed at getting the UNC medical school to back off its policies.

Now UNC’s medical school says it has disbanded its DEI task force, adding that it has no plans to implement its recommendations now or in the future.

“The most important issue should be educational excellence but it’s the one thing missing in all these DEI policies,” Zama, 66, a Pennsylvania-based cardiovascular and thoracic surgeon who was raised in a grass hut in Cameroon, told The Post about why he spoke on behalf of Xu’s campaign.

He understands that when someone's life is at stake, the skin color and reproductive plumbing of the physician or surgeon are irrelevant. Incompetence will kill, disable, or maim.

Correctly or an urban legend, I've heard that many African- or Caribbean-born blacks are unsympathetic toward victim-oriented American born black (not that all American-born blacks are).
If, as anti-Covid-vaxxers claim, https://www.poynter.org/fact-checking/2021/robert-f-kennedy-jr-said-the-covid-19-vaccine-is-the-deadliest-vaccine-ever-made-thats-not-true/ , https://gospelnewsnetwork.org/2021/11/23/covid-shots-are-the-deadliest-vaccines-in-medical-history/ , The Vaccine is deadly, where in the US have Pfizer and Moderna hidden the millions of bodies of those who died of "vaccine injury"? Is reality a Big Pharma Shill?

Millions now living should have died. Anti-Covid-Vaxxer ghouls hardest hit.

I've heard the latter point espoused by a number of immigrants from Africa in NYC, including cab-drivers.  It's nuts to ride with some of these guys:  they get here with nothing more than the clothes on their backs, and a few possessions, they get a place to crash, some decent freebie clothes, and they hire on as a cab-driver because they don't have to own the car.  While they're driving, their on their phones making deals for this and deals for that (oftentimes, for cheap stuff that gets sold on the sidewalks in the tourist traps), and they save their pennies - they know how to make a penny squeal like a pig - and then as they get more funds, (a) they move on up to a black-car service, or Uber/Lyft, where they have to pay for the car and carry own insurance, and (b) their deals get bigger, and maybe some of them move into real estate (there's a big niche for immigrants to get into real estate to help other people from the same country or region).  They typically get married soon, to a girl from back home, and they have a family.  And everyone makes it her or his business to keep the family business going.  In ten or twenty years, they've made a nice little lower middle class life for themselves, a few manage to make it big, but most pull themselves up by their bootstraps from subsistence level poverty to a decent living.

I'd trade a hundred American slackers and victim wannabes for one of these go-getters.

And they do look down upon the native-born African Americans they meet and have to deal with; although they have no compunction about making a buck off of them, either.
