Brandon had already signaled that he was going to ok this -- only thing is it's been tied up for awhile due to permitting and other hurdles -- this is nothing new, nor is it something that McCarthy accomplished.

Republicans secure massive gas pipeline approval in debt ceiling deal

The highly-anticipated debt ceiling package House Republicans and President Biden announced on Sunday includes a provision fast-tracking a massive 303-mile West Virginia-to-Virginia natural gas pipeline project for approval.

The unexpected carveout green-lighting the billion-dollar Mountain Valley Pipeline — which is 94% complete, but has been mired in a lengthy permitting process for years — was immediately cheered by West Virginia lawmakers who have touted the project's expected economic benefits for years. The pipeline is projected to create 2,500 construction jobs, $40 million in new tax revenue for West Virginia, $10 million in new tax revenue for Virginia and up to $250 million in royalties for West Virginia landowners.

"After working with Speaker McCarthy and reiterating what completing the Mountain Valley Pipeline would mean for American jobs and domestic energy production, I am thrilled it is included in the debt ceiling package that avoids default," Sen. Shelley Moore Capito, R-W.Va., the ranking member of the Environment and Public Works Committee, said in a statement.

"Despite delay after delay, we continued to fight to get this critical natural gas pipeline up and running, and its inclusion in this deal is a significant victory for the future of West Virginia," she added..............

Romans 12:16-21

Live in harmony with one another; do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly, do not claim to be wiser than you are.  Do not repay anyone evil for evil, but take thought for what is noble in the sight of all.  If it is possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all…do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

They’ll still find a way to block it.

  • I was a "conspiracy theorist". Now I'm just right.
They’ll still find a way to block it.
Another gazillion lawsuits brought by NGOs funded by suing the EPA and DOI for allowing some other project could bog it down for a decade or more. It happened with the Keystone XL, they tried it with the DAPL, and resorted to the whole "Standing Rock" protest (not to mention three different incidents of tampering with valves on existing pipelines--but not considered acts of "domestic terrorism").

If there is a 'protest', it is almost guaranteed to do more damage to the environment locally than the construction and operation of the pipeline.

If it is the pattern (and anyone in the wake of a leftist protest can generally attest this seems the case), by the debris and trash left behind, the protests will make far more of a mess than the pipeline. I'd also be wary of sabotage.

DAPL only leaked two barrels (84 gallons) of oil, in its biggest leak ever, through holes made in the pipeline by protestors. https://apnews.com/article/politics-crime-terrorism-environment-8033138e47bed9d0b4599a9ff3d24c76 At least AP called it "terrorism".

Aside from burning vehicles on a bridge, disrupting the area, doing over a million dollars damage to construction equipment and injuring and mutilating a million dollars worth of livestock, the Standing Rock protestors ("water protectors") left 720 semi loads of trash and debris in a flood prone area, a dead human wrapped in a blue tarp in a creek, and were the darlings of the coastal media.
How God must weep at humans' folly! Stand fast! God knows what he is doing!
Seventeen Techniques for Truth Suppression

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

'Massive' gas pipeline?  Please.  This is just yet another giveaway to the Dems to help Manchin retain his seat in 2024.
If a political party does not have its foundation in the determination to advance a cause that is right and that is moral, then it is not a political party; it is merely a conspiracy to seize power.

  • I need to be in love, K.c. R.C.
After shutting down a massive pipeline, years later democrats get everything they politically wanted, and then allow a little pipeline as wonder of wonders magnificent generosity.  They really think the Earth is only populated by gullible idiots, they justifiably prey upon and abuse.  Just who might they be ?
