  • Ah, the air is so much fresher here...
Gov. Glenn Youngkin (R-VA) headed to Asia this week, his first international trip as chief executive of Virginia that comes as possible 2024 presidential rival Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) makes his own trip through Europe.

Both men could be presidential candidates, but neither has announced a bid to challenge former President Donald Trump's hold over the GOP.

Youngkin will visit Taiwan, Japan, and South Korea from Monday through Saturday to meet with executives and leaders about strengthening business ties between Virginia and Asia. He has already met with the president of Taiwan, Tsai Ing-wen, and issued an executive order establishing Virginia’s first office for economic development in Taipei, Taiwan's capital.

Glenn Youngkin is fulfilling a campaign promise ---- and he's doing it in the first year of his governorship.  He brings a lifetime of experience in global investment and business development, leaving the Caryle Group as co-CEO to run for governor of Virginia.  He will spend this week in Taiwan, Japan, and South Korea meeting with executives about strengthening business ties between Virginia and Asia.

Do not confuse Youngkin's trip with that of Desantis ---- who, in the fifth year of his governorship ---- will spend this week flitting from country to country collecting photos of himself with famous people to hang on his vanity wall.

@Free Vulcan

Sounds to me like Glenn Youngkin might make a good VP running mate for Trump.

   DeSantis wanted him to 'Bone Up' on his Asian Trade Policy since he's going to be Secretary of State in a DeSantis Administration.

   Cruz will be AG.
No government in the 12,000 years of modern mankind history has led its people into anything but the history books with a simple lesson, don't let this happen to you.

@corbe

My first instinct was to stand up and applaud,but then I remembered how compromised the private life of Ted Cruz is,and how often he has avoided reaching for higher office despite CLEARLY being one of the smartest men in Government service.

Damn shame.
