The Grey Lady reported in 2020 that “Sweden Has Become the World's Cautionary Tale” for its Covid response. It's singing a very different tune in 2023.

couple of weeks ago, The New York Times published an article that would have been unthinkable a few years ago.

“How Did No-Mandate Sweden End Up With Such an Average Pandemic?” the headline asked.

Times writer David Wallace-Wells doesn’t accept claims that Sweden—which drew intense criticism for refusing to go into lockdown in 2020—had the lowest excess death rate in Europe, with just 3.3 percent more deaths than expected, the lowest percentage among OECD countries. But he does concede that “it’s hard to argue on the basis of Sweden’s epidemiological experience that its policy course was a disastrous one.”

This might not sound like much of a concession, but it is.

Lowest excess deaths in Europe over 2020 to 2022 goes to … Sweden, the one country that did not panic and toss out all wisdom.

Very interesting, but outside response issues, there does seem to be a genetic elelment to it, where almost its almost correlatable the more NW areas fared better and the  SE did worse in  Europe.

Look at both the top and bottom 5. And I wonder why England/Scotland was left out....  Not being in the EU? (BREXIT)

I display the Confederate Battle Flag in honor of my great great great grandfathers who spilled blood at Wilson's Creek and Shiloh.  5 others served in the WBTS with honor too.

I did think that Sweden did it the best with the exception of not protecting the old people

Here is what should have been done...

Let the young and those who are not immune comprise and let the old and immune-compromised stay in quarantine.

Crazy talk..

I know this may sound crazy, but at least our lockdowns weren't as bad as China, Australia, and New Zealand with China being the worse of that bunch.

Still looking for the part in the article where the NY Times admits that Conservatives were right all along.
If a political party does not have its foundation in the determination to advance a cause that is right and that is moral, then it is not a political party; it is merely a conspiracy to seize power.

-Dwight Eisenhower-

"The [U.S.] Constitution is a limitation on the government, not on private individuals ... it does not prescribe the conduct of private individuals, only the conduct of the government ... it is not a charter for government power, but a charter of the citizen's protection against the government."

-Ayn Rand-

I suppose we are expected to say, "hey it's all okay now you thought you were doing the right thing".

Not me, I won't forget or forgive.

A great book I'm reading now is "Ordinary Men" it's about a  German police battalion during WWII that complied with orders and actively participated in the Holocaust in 1940's Poland. I mention this because the China Virus behavior of our Govt. and supporters showed me who the modern day Nazis would be. We should never forget who these people are, we all know some.

The thing is, you really can't escape a virus like this. You're going to get it sooner or later. They only should have protected the compromised people to the point that effective treatments were available. Loading them up with Vit D3 and having ivermectin and zinc on hand would have done wonders for the survival rate. But that didn't work for big pharma and the tyrants in government.

I knew it when the virus was leaked from a lab in Wuhan China
