Harris to meet with Tennessee lawmakers expelled over gun protests
by Brett Samuels - 04/07/23 1:10 PM ET

Vice President Harris is making a previously unscheduled stop in Nashville on Friday to meet with two state lawmakers who were expelled from the Tennessee House for leading gun violence protests in the wake of a local school shooting, a spokesperson confirmed.

Harris will meet with state Reps. Justin Jones (D) and Justin Pearson (D), who on Thursday were expelled from the legislature for their participation in the recent demonstrations on the House floor. Rep. Gloria Johnson (D), who also participated in the protests and is white, narrowly survived her expulsion vote.

The vice president will use the meeting to elevate the White House’s broader push for tougher gun laws, including a ban on assault weapons. President Biden has renewed his calls for such a ban in the aftermath of a shooting at a Nashville grade school that left three 9 year olds and three teachers dead.

Jones, Johnson and Pearson led chants on the House floor last week in the aftermath of the shooting, chanting “No action, no peace.” Resolutions to expel them state that they engaged in “disorderly behavior” and “did knowingly and intentionally bring disorder and dishonor to the House of Representatives.”

The expulsion of Jones and Pearson, both of whom are Black, has fueled a nationwide debate in recent days over gun violence, race and the freedom to protest. The White House called the expulsion votes “undemocratic.”

“Six people, including three children, were killed last week in a school shooting in Nashville,” Harris tweeted Thursday night. “How did Republican lawmakers in Tennessee respond? By expelling their colleagues who stood with Tennesseans and said enough is enough.  This is undemocratic and dangerous.”

Harris’s visit to Nashville was first reported by USA Today.

Nashville: VP Kamala Harris Pushes ‘Assault Weapons’ Ban, Red Flag Laws

AWR Hawkins 7 Apr 2023

Vice President Kamala Harris spoke at Nashville’s Fisk University Friday evening and pushed for background checks, red flag laws, and an “assault weapons” ban.

C-SPAN aired her comments in which she referenced the Christian school shooting numerous times but never mentioned that the shooter was a 28-year-old transgender person.

Moreover, she never mentioned that the transgender shooter planned to “commit mass murder,” according to police.

Harris also omitted any mention of the fact that the Christian school shooter got her guns legally, which entails passing background checks.

Instead, Harris pushed for background checks.

Harris omitted Metropolitan Nashville Police Department chief John Drake’s admission that the 28-year-old was not on police radar. And the transgender shooter’s parents did not know she had a gun; they knew she had one once, but they thought she sold it.

Despite these things, Harris pushed a red flag law, saying, “When we know, and when a community or family knows, shouldn’t we listen?”

The shooter’s family allegedly did not know, nor did the police.

Harris also pushed an “assault weapons” ban, claiming they are “weapons of war designed to kill a lot of people.”

Breitbart News noted that security footage showed the transgender shooter walking school halls and looking for victims while holding a 9mm carbine, not an AR-15 rifle.

Kamala Harris looks VERY animated as she visits Tennessee to support two black Democrat lawmakers expelled from legislature over gun control protest in wake of Nashville massacre
Daily Mail/UK, Apr 8, 2023

An animated and passionate Kamala Harris made a last-minute trip to Nashville on Friday, where she condemned Republicans for their 'cowardice' in refusing to allow debate over gun control, and urged young people to rise up for what they believe in.

Harris traveled to the Tennessee capital after two black Democratic state representatives were expelled on Thursday for staging a protest inside the House, demanding more gun control.

A white female Democrat lawmaker who joined in the protest kept her job, sparking racism allegations.

Their protest came three days after the March 27 shooting at a Nashville school, which killed six people, including three children.

Harris, thumping the lectern, told a crowd at Fisk University - an historically black school - that more needed to be done to end school shootings.

'Every generation has its calling,' she told them. 'And so in particular, to all the young leaders here: This issue is going to require your leadership. We need you.'

The 58-year-old vice president whipped up the crowd, urging them to have courage in their convictions.

'The issue, which gets back to these three, is that we need leaders who have the courage to act at state houses and in Washington, D.C., in the United States Congress,' she said.

'Have the courage to act instead of the cowardice to not allow debate.'

She said the 'Tennessee Three' were acting to protect students.

'Let's understand the underlying issue is about fighting for the safety of our children,' she thundered.

Her voice rising, she declared: 'It's been years now where they are taught to read and write - and hide in a closet and be quiet if there's a mass shooter at their school; where our children, who have God's capacity to learn and lead, who go to school in fear".

Democratic Presidents Past and Present Put Out Stunningly Ignorant Tweets on Expelled Tenn. Members
Townhall, Apr 7, 2023

On Thursday, as Matt highlighted, the Tennessee House voted to expel two Democratic state representatives, Reps. Justin Jones and Justin Pearson. A third member, state Rep. Gloria Johnson, barely survived expulsion though she was still stripped of her committee assignments. The members were found to have engaged in "disorderly behavior" and purposefully bringing "disorder and dishonor to the House of Representatives" last week during a gun control protest at the Tennessee Capitol last week that quickly got out of control.

It was hardly a peaceful protest, amounting to an insurrection even. Protesters also engaged in despicable behavior as they held up seven fingers as a way to claim that the alleged shooter who shot and killed six people at the Covenant School, Audrey Hale, was also a victim. With Hale being transgender, activists have turned the issue into being about gun control and supporting trans rights.

The Biden administration and President Joe Biden himself have certainly gone with such a narrative. The president, from his official account tweeted out a statement condemning the actions of Tennessee House members. The statement is problematic throughout, but particularly glaring is how it claimed they "joined thousands of peaceful protesters calling for action."

Our friends at Twitchy highlighted the reactions to Biden's statements, especially in the context of how Biden has repeatedly condemned January 6, only to then mislead on the narrative of the protests. It also bears reminding, as so many of these users did, what distorted narrative Biden has on the shooting. [...]

To add insult to injury, the president also tweeted how he further emboldened the three members by calling them "to thank them for their leadership and courage in the face of a blatant disregard of our nation’s democratic values."

Biden wasn't the only Democratic president to tweet out against the Tennessee Republican members' actions while showing support for the three Democrats. In addition to highlighting how our "nation was built on peaceful protest," former President Barack Obama ignorantly claimed that the members were expelled "simply for raising their voice."

Further, when it comes to his claim that "Silencing those who disagree with us is a sign of weakness, not strength, and it won’t lead to progress," perhaps Obama and his party should look in the mirror.

Tennessee Republicans Expel Two Democrats Involved in the Leftist Takeover of State Capitol
Townhall, Apr 7, 2023, Matt Vespa

On March 30, transgender and anti-gun activists stormed the Tennessee Capitol in Nashville. It was three days after the shooting at Covenant School, a private Christian academy and site of Audrey Hale’s rampage. Hale was the transgender mass killer who murdered six people in cold blood, including three children. It’s a fact that the Left seeks to obfuscate for obvious political reasons. They’re trying to pivot and make this about gun control. The racial background of the shooter in past killings has always been front and center for the media’s attention, especially when the perpetrator is white. But because Hale was trans, you can’t mention that, with the press sprinting to move on from the tragedy and handing down orders to their staff to avoid referring to Hale as transgender; CBS News is said to have issued that edict.

This storming of the state capitol was an act of rebellion; this is the Left’s precedent from January 6. Accountability must be meted out, which is why Tennessee Republicans, who hold a supermajority in the state house, moved to expel three Democrats—Reps. Gloria Johnson, Justin Jones, and Justin Pearson—for their involvement in the rebellion. Resolutions to expurgate them from the lower chamber were voted on Thursday. Reps. Jones and Pearson were expelled; Johnson barely survived (via NBC News): [...]

'Preacher' Kamala Harris Shows Up in Nashville to Deliver a Grotesque Political Spectacle
Bonchie
~4 minutes

Kamala Harris is truly the most tone-deaf, incapable politician of the modern era. She’s so terrible that she makes Hillary Clinton seem personable and compelling.

That reality was on full display on Friday as Harris jetted off to Nashville to visit the “Tennessee Three” and to stump for gun control. That decision came after the Biden administration originally all but ignored the tragic mass shooting by a transgender militant that set off the current chain of events. To this day, no one within the administration has even mentioned that the murderer purposely targeted Christians in an obvious hate crime.

To that effect, it was also obvious that Harris had no intention of visiting Nashville until it became politically convenient to do so. While administration officials, including Joe Biden himself, had previously gone to the sites of school shootings in the past, this one was largely ignored and obfuscated. Yet, the moment three Democrats perpetrated an insurrection at the Tennessee capitol, Harris decided it was time to put boots on the ground.

There wasn’t even any question about what the vice president’s priorities were in making the trip. Her own staff bragged about them.

I understand the Caucasian woman only 'survived' (her seat) by 1 vote...after that person changed their mind JUST BEFORE CASTING THE BALLOT!!

IOW, this is all intended drama.

What was the reason(s) provided that she not suffer the same fate as the other 2 BLACK demonstrating Representatives??  Because on the surface it looks like race played a roll in the reasons.
