The American Civil Liberties Union and the ACLU of Indiana are suing Indiana over a signed bill that now bans gender-affirming care for minors.
Governor Eric Holcomb signed SB 480 on Wednesday.
In a public statement regarding the bill Gov Holcomb stated, “Permanent gender-changing surgeries with lifelong impacts and medically prescribed preparation for such a transition should occur as an adult, not as a minor."
Within hours of the bill signing, the ACLU responded with a lawsuit. The ACLU also brought suit, successfully, against the state of West Virginia, which is now forced to allow males to compete in women's sports.
