Former President Donald Trump demanded his Republican allies in Congress defund the FBI and the Justice Department.

A day after being charged with 34 felony counts of falsifying business records, Trump took to social media and proclaimed, “Almost every legal and political analyst has said that the unfair and morally disgusting Indictment filed against me yesterday has NO MERIT, and is not even a case.”

“There was no crime,” he said, “and, anyway, the Statute of Limitations has been violated by many years.”


While the debate over the strength of the indictment continues, Trump was warned yesterday that he could be put under a gag order if he continues to attack prosecutors in the case. That didn’t stop the former president from ranting against his foes in his Mar-a-Lago speech, and thus, his next Truth Social message was more in character with his recent all-caps rage postings:

I mean, I understand the guy must have cheated on any civics/government classes he took, but you'd hope he may have learned and retained at least something.

I don't know what his thinking is, other than he knows his goose is cooked and he is desperately crying out for help especially to those GOP who served during his administration.

His supporters so far are silent; if he was a leftist they would be burning cities down by now.  I realize that's exactly what the left was hoping for and Trump himself thought he'd see an uprising.

Prayers up for former President Trump and his family.  I feel mostly for young Barron; watching his father indicted, the porn star involvement, etc.  How is he to deal with all of this???

America.  What are we going to do without her?  China, Russia, N. Korea and lately I hear Malaysia are all on board to do away with the U.S. dollar. What then?

I take issue with Trump not calming the riots as he promised after George Flyod was killed and consequently law enforcement in areas being defunded.  This is exactly why I will not vote for Trump again.  The way things are going, I don't see him able to run again anyways.

Actually, I can't.  He constantly says things that make me think he doesn't understand how the government/Constitutiom actually work.

I suppose the other alternative is that he actually does understand how they work, but figures his supporters don't so he can just fire up his base with constitutional gibberish.  I honestly don't know which would be worse.

Reading in a tad deeper, I can understand where he is coming from, though the idea of carte blanche' defunding is not practical or wise.

OTOH, if the GOP in Congress can ID the specific factions that are weaponizing the DOJ's and FBI's enforcement encroachment.....   I'd be all for it.  But I got to agree with prior posters that the optics on this don't help his case.

Becasue honestly, I am now of the opinion our FBI/DOJ are an American Gestapo.  Though, I do know there are probably some good apples left, but they  are too afraid to speak up.

It's was James Comey's FBI and John Brennan's CIA that started this entire mess, with a complicit Democrat Party Leadership and Administration.

It's just another way of saying the agencies should be dismantled and restructured.  Checks and balances.

I stand corrected. He did not use the term uprising.!!!  He did ask his supporters to protest. Very different terms.

Polls are meaningless IMO. He can be 50 pts. ahead but at the end of the day, votes counted on election day and the outcome is all that matters.  One election was stolen, what and who is preventing them from stealing another?

Just to clairfy @Right_in_Virginia I think Trump was a very good president and I absolutely feel that what is happening to him is wrong.  I do fear for his health and safety.

Ron DeSantis has joined Donald Trump's call to defund the Justice Department and FBI over its 'weaponization' of the legal system by its investigations of the former president.

The Florida governor also attacked Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, who indicted Trump earlier this week, saying 'if we had somebody in Tampa that was trying to pursue that agenda, I'd yanked him from his position.'

DeSantis' tough talk comes as polls show that, even in the wake of his indictment, Trump leads him in the race for the Republican presidential nomination. DeSantis has not officially announced he's running but is widely expected to announce a bid.
