“Working with the Taliban was easier than our own government:” Former Navy SEAL opens up about evacuating Americans from Afghanistan

FEATUREDWIB CULTUREWIB LAND January 4, 2023 Staff Writer 0

A seasoned veteran of the United States special operations community admitted that working with the Taliban during the waning days of the Afghanistan conflict was often easier than working with the US government.

Kevin Holland, a retired US Army master sergeant and the only publicly known operator who served in DEVGRU (SEAL Team 6) and Delta Force (1st SFOD-D), respectively, recently spoke to former SEAL Jack Carr on his podcast.

During the chat, Holland -who also played a role in the capture of former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein- spoke of the withdrawal from Afghanistan and how his men would often have to work with the Taliban to ensure a peaceful withdrawal.

In Afghanistan, Holland worked with Sentinel Foundation, a non-profit that specializes in rescuing at-risk individuals, particularly children being trafficked for the international sex trade.

While there, the North Carolina native recounted his experiences.

The legitimate powers of government extend to such acts only as are injurious to others. But it does me no injury for my neighbor to say there are twenty gods, or no god. It neither picks my pocket nor breaks my leg.
