The ball is in McCarthy's court.  He can either give assurances to Conservative members that this will not be a repeat of Paul Ryan.  Or he can continue to give Democrats every single thing they ask for, and then some.

That intention evidenced by the current GOP leadership (McCarthy included) rubber-stamping enough money to carry the government through the next year - effectively kicking the teeth out of the incoming Congress for that year.

Any real change now can only happen in the following year - election season again. So the incoming congress will have no brags to echo from the stump... and the whole shitaree gets the can kicked down the road.

That's the GOP for ya.

THROW THE BASTARDS OUT.

Anyone know what time the festivities start and any link to a live thread?

Not only that, they set this up a few months back when they decided to extend spending through December instead of pushing it to January.  Republicans had the power to avoid all that, but chose instead to hand over the ball to the Democrats and give them everything they wanted.  Bunch of bleep.
If a political party does not have its foundation in the determination to advance a cause that is right and that is moral, then it is not a political party; it is merely a conspiracy to seize power.

RINO Congressman Don Bacon Threatens Conservatives: I’ll Help Democrats Elect Next Speaker if GOP Hold-Outs Reject Kevin McCarthy

This isn't a RINO.  This is what the Republican Party actually stands for today.  It is the Conservatives who are now the RINOs.

And that's really all you need to know. GOP LEADERSHIP did this.
Nothing will change till those bastards have their hands pried off of the levers of power, and another faction ascends. And the GOP right wing should be that faction, if the GOP can be useful at all anymore.

Otherwise, I guarantee, y'all are being lead by the nose where you do not want to go.

I asked Rep. Mike Rogers if he threatened that members who voted against McCarthy would he tossed off committees.

“I didn’t threaten them, I promised them and that’s a difference.”

This is what happens when the opposition jumps to the microphones without a plan ---- they end up further behind.

The negotiations should have stayed as private as possible within the Caucus.  Here's a strategy that may have worked --- if the goal was truly to secure a strong conservative voice and not to strut and humiliate.

I would have worked for the these changes in exchange for a McCarthy Speakership and a united front:

-  The ability to remove the Speaker
-   Guaranteed number of conservatives on each committee
-   Guaranteed number of conservative seats at the agenda setting table
-.  Rules changes for guaranteed time to review and debate proposed legislation
-.  A conservative liaison with the Senate

These 9 or so dumba$$es are going to give the House over to the Dems. They are that stupid and that narcissistic. I put these clowns on my existing eternal $hotlist along with Flake, Sasse, Kinzinger and Cheney. If they carry through with this they must be ostracized at every level, primaried, and voted out of their seats. They are stopping the Hunter Biden investigation, the DOJ investigation, and are destroying any hope of retaking the White House. They are exactly the kind of self aggrandizing morons and are the kind of useful idiots the Left loves. Just unreal.

Electing McCarthy is giving the House over to the Dems.

As it stands there will be no Hunter Biden investigation, and there will be no DOJ investigation. Mark my words.

Do you realize those so called dumbasses only had 3 terms that would have given McCarthy the speakership?

According to Gaetz...   Their only terms were

1. A floor vote on term limits
2. Balanced Budget proposals and vote of committee
3. Bring to floor vote Texas Delegation's Border Plan.

McCarthy REFUSED!!!!

McCarthy apparently would prefer negotitiating with dims and their socialist agenda......

I guess you are okay with that.

Title and premise:
"House faces temporary chaos if McCarthy stumbles in bid for speakership..."

Then... let there BE "chaos".
I'm all for it.

I want to see the DC government tied up in knots, unable to do anything.
The longer it stays that way... the better.

"The government that governs least... governs best".

A House "in chaos" can't "govern".

Again... this is a GOOD thing, when you consider where "governing" has brought us to over the last couple of years...

Funny how many of those who want to drain the swamp aren't willing to do what it takes to actually do it. It isn't like it will just fall from the sky.

Anyone who actually stands in the breach to block the swamp becomes "stupid" or the "enemy"... No courage. No results.

Good.  Doesn't hurt early on, to ID those we need to Primary the Hell out of early '24.

He just provided the first campaign sound bite.  Nail hm for it.

 :amen:

Lets it make it clear to the voters who is part of the uniparty and who is for small govt, with some fiscal discipline. I'm happy to see this all playing out in public, enough of the backroom deals that benefit the admin. state, uniparty and lobbyists.

Every time I come to a thread that talks about breaking the RINO status quo, I can guess who here at TBR would be for keeping the swamp and who favors their representatives act like conservatives. Like clockwork.
