McConnell says Trump turned off GOP voters by making party look ‘sort of nasty’

By Mica Soellner - The Washington Times - Saturday, December 24, 2022

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell said former President Donald Trump‘s influence is waning, reiterating his blame towards his political foe for GOP shortcomings in the midterms.

Mr. McConnell, who has had an increasingly strained relationship with Mr. Trump since the 2021 Capitol riot, said Mr. Trump helped cast voters an unappealing image of the Republican Party that broke the trust of the electorate.

“We lost support that we needed among independents and moderate Republicans, primarily related to the view they had of us as a party — largely made by the former president — that we were sort of nasty and tended toward chaos,” Mr. McConnell told NBC News.

Mr. McConnell added: “And oddly enough, even though that subset of voters did not approve of President Biden, they didn’t have enough confidence in us in several instances to give us the majority we needed.”

Republicans greatly fell short of expectations in a year that was anticipated to be a “red wave.”

It's true: most people don't care for nastiness among the political class. So yes, Trump turned off a bunch of people.

But most folks also detest greed, dishonesty, and personal corruption.

Mitch.
"The most terrifying force of death, comes from the hands of Men who wanted to be left Alone. They try, so very hard, to mind their own business and provide for themselves and those they love. They resist every impulse to fight back, knowing the forced and permanent change of life that will come from it. They know, that the moment they fight back, their lives as they have lived them, are over. -Alexander Solzhenitsyn

'Quality candidates' meaning Mitch code for Mitch cronies who are gonna vote for the same woke bloated pork fests like the Omnibus that Mitch just shepherded into being. So what's the point of even having a majority?

The real problem was Mitch didn't fund any candidate that wasn't a Mitch bootlicker, and he pulled money from candidates that lost by single digits to support his cronies, even over other Republicans.

The Republic is lost.

Well, given that EVERYTHING Trump has said has turned out to be true and EVERYTHING mitch has said has been a lie, I am left to surmise that the truth hurts..  :pondering:

 The Senate’s Mitch McConnell Problem
He actively worked against GOP nominees.

Ya can’t make it up.

In this year’s midterms, the Republican leader of the United States Senate went out of his way to defeat Republican candidates for the United States Senate.

Yes, you read that right.

Here, for example, is this headline from Breitbart:

Mitch McConnell Pulls PAC Ads Out of New Hampshire, Effectively Sabotaging GOP Candidate Don Bolduc

The story reported this:

Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) will pull all his super PAC’s money out of New Hampshire, effectively sabotaging Republican Senate candidate Gen. Don Bolduc.

The McConnell-backed Senate Leadership Fund will pull all its ads off television starting October 25, Shane Goldmacher of the News [sic] York Times reported Friday afternoon. The decision will rip $5.6 million away from Gen. Bolduc’s candidacy and greatly help incumbent Sen. Maggie Hassan (D-NH).

And, like clockwork, Bolduc has now lost his race to defeat Democrat incumbent senator Maggie Hassan.

But, considering only 13 of our Senators decided to vote against Mitch, exactly who's fault is it? Too much of our leadership is just empty suit peacocking around.

Have said it before and will say it again - someone up there in the Senate needs to acquire some Volkswagen sized stones and make themselves shadow Leader, then go out and solicit funds to primary Mitch and all his cronies.

Time to take off the dang gloves, but there doesn't seem to be anyone willing to do it.

The Republic is lost.

Giving Democrats everything they ask for is what turns off GOP voters.
If a political party does not have its foundation in the determination to advance a cause that is right and that is moral, then it is not a political party; it is merely a conspiracy to seize power.

-Dwight Eisenhower-

"The [U.S.] Constitution is a limitation on the government, not on private individuals ... it does not prescribe the conduct of private individuals, only the conduct of the government ... it is not a charter for government power, but a charter of the citizen's protection against the government."

McConnell is a liar.

"2012: Candidate Trump is born    Up until this point, most of the audience had only ever heard politicians speaking to the interests of the multinationals & donor class   Watch how they react when he speaks to their interests 👇"  (Video)
