Been saying for years that despite the idealized cliché view of soldiers as a clean, shaved, proper American patriots, there are lots (very many) various types of absolute a$$holes in the military. The idea that all military people are good upstanding people is a mistake. I met plenty of people in the military with severe untreated emotional and psychological disorders.

I wouldn't allow these types of people around my children or family whether they are a soldier or not. Soldiers are just people, same as you meet everyday.

I disagree. That is NOT true of all soldiers.

In 6+ years,I never once bet a SF soldier I couldn't,or wouldn't count on to cover my back,regardless of the risk. On the other hand,I don't believe I have met anyone I can give that level of trust since I got out of the army. I THOUGHT I had a couple of times,but was fooled.

This was,of course,before Miss Miley was GIVEN a green beret and command of SF troops.

I have never denied that I was incredibly lucky.

On the downside,that is the world I grew up in,being assigned to a SF Group for the first time when I was 18.

The downside was since that was the world I grew up in,I was "programmed" to believe that was the way the world worked in civilian life.

That part didn't work out very well for me,and to this very day I still have a tendency to trust people I shouldn't trust,and I have paid the price,over and over.
