Just so you know @Right_in_Virginia solubility of vinyl chloride in water is near zero.

The Real danger is degradation products of incomplete combustion.

Sorry Big.... VCM base stocks have a 2,700 milligram per litre water solubility at nuetrality (2700 ppm (parts per MILLION), and it goes up in both basic and acid solutions.

SDWA EPA water quality standard (MCL) if I remember right are about 20 parts per BILLION. It is a serious potential contaminant to ground and surface water. And depending on the volume, and rapidly this material makes it down the Ohio River, could be a concern for hundreds of miles.

Sorry Catfish but vinyl chloride is too readily volatilized to undergo bioaccumulation, except perhaps in the most extreme exposure conditions. I probably should have said what i posted above differently.

Half life is .805 over 3 hours. That does bring the vector of harm closer to source, but don't forget that same volatilty and reactivty results in dioxin formation which is just as bad, if not worse in a bio-accumulation setting. So basically you are picking your poison as far water contaminants.

Ah, governor DeWine gave the go ahead.

Perhaps he will repeat his weekly covid type broadcasts to assure the dying that they are ok.

And to back up Ohio gov Mike, the EPA gave the ok that it is ok to drink the water that is
killing fish in the water.

With all the environmental friendly faces in Washington, it is strange that they aren't the
least concerned about an environmental catastrophe. Well, it is a White, Trump stronghold.
And we know everyone should line up with their specific tribe.

Oh, the Ohio basin provided 10% of the US supply. Drink up.
