Chris Christie: After Midterms GOP Needs to Dump ‘Selfish’ Trump

Former Gov. Chris Christie said Sunday on ABC’s “This Week” that after the midterm elections, Republicans needed to make a “fundamental judgment” to become a Party of “us,” not former President Donald Trump and his own selfish desires.

Anchor Martha Raddatz asked, “Donald Trump, let’s talk about Donald Trump. He’s making the rounds in battleground states, going to Pennsylvania, Florida, Ohio, but not Georgia, very early before the primaries, and he’s not rallying for Governor DeSantis to be re-elected in Florida. What’s going on here?”

Christie said, “This is shocking. Donald Trump is acting in his own self-interest as opposed to acting in the interest of the party. Again, this is what I’ve been talking about for months now. Republicans are going to have to make a fundamental judgment after November 8. Are we the party of me or the party of us? Donald Trump represents the party of me. Now you know when you see how he’s making those choices, you understand that it’s all about him. If you said nice things about him, if you agree if the election was stolen, he’ll campaign for you. If you don’t, he won’t. I was with Joe O’Dea, the Senate candidate in Colorado. He eviscerates Joe O’Dea because him because he said Joe Biden is the legitimate president despite the fact that Joe O’Dea agrees with Donald Trump on issues.”

He added, “So this is not about issues once again it’s about person, and it’s about Donald Trump and his own selfish desire to want his own point of view of the world, especially about the 2020 election reaffirmed, and if you don’t reaffirm it, which Ron DeSantis hasn’t interestingly, you know that’s why he’s not in Florida with Ron DeSantis.”

Trump will be debated about for the next couple of years, but in no debate does Fat Man get to be the President.

He's coming off as a cheap imitation of Dizzy Lizzy Cheney.

I'm getting pretty sick of the "political class" telling people Trump has to go.

Trump needs to stay. He is the one who flushed out the deep state. He is the one who did most of what he said he would even though the Pub party was less than supportive. Imagine what Trump accomplishes with a stronger MAGA party in DC.

Yes, Trump is the one who headed this country in a much better direction in spite of many in his own party acting against him.

I'm not so sure that we will see a stronger party in DC; McCarthy and McConnell leadership doesn't equate to party strength.  Trump if re-elected will be bumping into the same old country club...perhaps with some more support, but certainly not from the expected leaders of the party; McConnell and McCarthy.  With some luck, we just may see McConnell ousted.

How does the GOP go about 'dumping' Trump?  Is he the RNC Chairman?  Does he hold office?  Does he chair a Senate committee or govern a State?  Christie is an idiot.

And most notably, Trump wrecked Democrat controlled so called "News". They are still dropping like flies every month even with Trump gone for two years. Trump exposed directly the deep corruption of corporate new channels and social media sites. They will never recover. They will never again be a powerful as they were.

How many times have democrats pulled serious evil crap and Christie stood silent, giving the worst of the democrats a pass.  Yet many times Christie took cheap shots are trump to the praise of democrats.  Christie is a liz Cheney/Romney, very democrat and very little Republican.
