Republican Lisa Murkowski Pledges to Vote for Alaska House Democrat over Sarah Palin

Wendell Husebø 22 Oct 2022

Twenty-one-year incumbent Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) has said she will vote for Democrat House candidate Rep. Mary Peltola (D-AK) over Republican challenger former Gov. Sarah Palin.

“Yeah, I am,” Murkowski responded Friday when asked by the Anchorage Daily News if she would vote for the Democrat.

Alaska uses the ranked choice voting system, which ultimately affords Democrat voters the opportunity to vote for Murkowski on the second and third ballots. Murkowski’s decision to vote for a Democrat is likely intended to attract more votes down-ballot to ultimately defeat Trump-endorsed Senate Republican candidate Kelly Tshibaka, who is leading in the polls by a slim margin.

And there you have it.

Incidentally, there is a second Republican on the ballot that Murkowski could vote for.  But she pledges to vote for a Democrat over Republican Nick Begich.

This seat is likely a Dem pickup because of the asinine rules that Murkowski pushed.  In each race, you have two (or three) Republicans facing off against one Democrat.  Highest vote getter wins.  So the GOP vote gets diluted between multiple candidates while the Democrat gets all of the Democrat votes.  Thanks a lot, Murkowski.
If a political party does not have its foundation in the determination to advance a cause that is right and that is moral, then it is not a political party; it is merely a conspiracy to seize power.     -Dwight Eisenhower-

"The [U.S.] Constitution is a limitation on the government, not on private individuals ... it does not prescribe the conduct of private individuals, only the conduct of the government ... it is not a charter for government power, but a charter of the citizen's protection against the government."     -Ayn Rand-

Ranked choice voting.
The complete opposite of "one man, one vote".
It should be Constitutionally outlawed for all elections within the USA borders.
(and under my re-written, re-Constituted Constitution, it will be)
