LIMO GO Joe Biden CAN bring his armoured Beast limo to the Queen’s funeral – while other world leaders take the bus

    Ed Southgate

    1:00, 13 Sep 2022Updated: 1:29, 13 Sep 2022

JOE Biden CAN take his armoured Beast limo to the Queen's funeral rather than catching the bus, it emerged last night.

French President Emmanuel Macron, Japan’s Emperor Natuhito and Israel’s President Herzog are also all likely to avoid the heads-of-state coach trip.

They will instead be allowed to take their own transport to Westminster Abbey next Monday.

The US President, for instance, can take his armoured Cadillac, known as the Beast, for security reasons.

His £1.5m behemoth weighs 11 tons, has eight-inch armour and can reportedly withstand a chemical attack.

A government source told The Times it would be inappropriate to ask G7 leaders to catch a shuttle bus, but added dignitaries have been asked to be flexible.

Prince Harry says his 'decade of service is not determined by the uniform he wears' after he was 'banned' from wearing military outfit
Daily Mail, Sep 13, 2020

Prince Harry today revealed he will wear a morning suit at the Queen's funeral and the events leading up to it, as his spokesman issued a loaded statement saying his 'decade of military service is not determined by the uniform he wears'.

Only working royals - which Harry and Andrew are not - are being permitted to dress in uniform at five ceremonial occasions.

These are the St Giles' Cathedral service in Edinburgh, which took place on Monday, and the coffin's procession to Westminster Hall, the vigil at the lying in state, the funeral in Westminster Abbey and the committal service in Windsor.

But an exception has been made for Andrew who will wear a uniform as a 'special mark of respect' for the Queen when he stands guard around her coffin during the Vigil of the Princes.

He is expected to be joined by the Queen's other children - the King, the Princess Royal and the Earl of Wessex - at the proceedings during the lying in state later this week.

The Queen leaves her beloved Scotland for the final time: Emotional Princess Anne is at her mother's side as Her Majesty's coffin returns home to Buckingham Palace
Daily Mail, Sep 13, 2022

The Queen is leaving her beloved Scotland for the last time as her coffin is flown from Edinburgh to London then carried by hearse to Buckingham Palace.

The sound of pipes filled the streets as Her Majesty's coffin - which was draped in the Royal Standard of Scotland and decorated with a large wreath - was carried out of St Giles' Cathedral by kilt-wearing pallbearers after 4.15pm into a hearse then driven up Edinburgh's Royal Mile.

A guard of honour by the King's Bodyguard for Scotland and pipers followed the Cortege towards Edinburgh Castle and on to Edinburgh Airport.

A sea of thousands of mourners - including young schoolgirls wearing tartan and waving Union flags - packed into the capital's tiny streets broke out into applause, while the Scottish flag, the Saltaire, flew at half-mask from the top of a building. The enormous crowd of men, women and children continued to clap for the monarch as the last company of soldiers followed the procession.

At Edinburgh Airport, the Queen was received by the Royal Regiment of Scotland with a royal salute, before a bearer party from the Royal Air Force carried the coffin onto the aircraft - an RAF Globemaster C-17 -  accompanied by her daughter the Princess Royal. As the plane took off at around 5.40pm, the national anthem was played.

The plane is scheduled to touch down at RAF Northolt in west London before 7pm. The bearer party will then carry the Queen's coffin from the aircraft to the waiting state hearse to begin the journey by road along the A40 towards Buckingham Palace, where tens of thousands of mourners are expected to gather to gather to catch a glimpse of Her Majesty.

'Humble' Queen Elizabeth will be laid to rest wearing two sentimental pieces of jewellery: Expert claims Her Majesty will not be buried in priceless jewels but simply her gold wedding band and pair of pearl earrings

The Queen's wedding ring is made from Welsh gold, continuing a royal tradition stretching back to 1920s
Lisa Levinson said it is 'unlikely' she will be buried with anything else other than a pair of pearl earrings
Added that her engagement ring will likely be given to her daughter Princess Anne

Published: 09:41 EDT, 13 September 2022 | Updated: 11:26 EDT, 13 September 2022

At her Coronation, the Queen wore a crown glittering with jewels and wielded a sceptre boasting the world's largest white diamond.

But a royal expert has predicted that Her Majesty will be buried with just two pieces of jewellery.
Lisa Levinson, head of communications at the Natural Diamond Council, told Metro.co.uk that it would be 'unlikely' that the 'humble' Queen will be buried with anything other than her 'simple Welsh gold wedding band to rest and a pair of pearl earrings'.

She added that her engagement ring, which contains diamonds taken from a tiara owned by Prince Philip's mother Alice of Battenberg, will likely be given to her daughter Princess Anne.

The Queen's wedding ring was passed to her after being given to her parents for their wedding in 1923. It began a royal tradition of having wedding rings made from Welsh gold. It was made from the Clogau St. David's gold mine.

Her Majesty's private jewellery collection holds around 300 pieces, including 98 brooches, 34 pairs of earrings and 15 rings. When not worn by the monarch, they were stored in the Queen's Gallery at Buckingham Palace.

The official Crown Jewels are held in the Tower of London. Dating back to the 17th-century, the collection includes more than 23,000 diamonds, sapphires and rubies.

Her Majesty's state funeral will take place in Westminster Abbey next Monday, after she lies in state in her oak coffin for four days at Westminster Hall nearby.

The Queen's coffin is currently in Edinburgh's St Giles Cathedral, where thousands of mourners filed past overnight and this morning to pay their respects. It is set to be flown to RAF Northolt tonight and will then be driven to Buckingham Palace.

Lisa Levinson, head of communications at the Natural Diamond Council, said it would be 'unlikely' that the 'humble' Queen is buried with anything other than her 'simple Welsh gold wedding band to rest and a pair of pearl earrings'. above: The Queen's wedding ring is seen beneath her engagement ring in 2007

Ms Levinson said: 'Her Majesty is an incredibly humble woman at heart who is unlikely to be dressed in anything but her simple Welsh gold wedding band to rest and a pair of pearl earrings.'

She added that most of the Queen's jewels are likely to remain in the royal collection rather than being buried with her because the Her Majesty's life 'has always been about the legacy of the royal family, in the UK and Commonwealth.

'Her jewels form very much part of that legacy'.

Welsh gold also furnished rings for the Queen Mother, Princess Margaret, Princess Anne, and Diana, Princess of Wales before it ran out.

The Duchess of Cambridge's wedding ring was later created from a piece of Welsh gold the Queen had gifted Prince William after the couple's engagement.

When the Queen lies in state, her coffin will be draped with the Royal Standard, as it was in Edinburgh.

Prince Harry hits out at military outfit ban as he says his 'decade of service is not determined by the uniform he wears'

Duke of Sussex denied the chance to wear military uniform at official events
His disgraced uncle, Andrew, will be permitted to do so at Vigil of the Princes
Today, Harry's spokesman revealed the prince will wear a morning suit instead

Prince Harry today said his 'decade of service is not determined by the uniform he wears' after he was 'banned' from donning a military outfit at the Queen's funeral or the events leading up to it.

The Duke of Sussex, who saw action on the front line during two tours of duty in Afghanistan, revealed he will wear a morning suit during the official commemorations.

Harry has been prevented from wearing his military uniform at the late monarch's state funeral even though his disgraced uncle the Duke of York will be permitted to do so at the Vigil of the Princes in Westminster Hall.

Following a series of reports about the issue, the Duke of Sussex's spokesman said today: '[Prince Harry] will wear a morning suit throughout events honouring his grandmother.

'His decade of military service is not determined by the uniform he wears and we respectfully ask that focus remain on the life and legacy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.'

Only current heads of state and their spouses or partners will be invited, meaning Joe and Jill Biden will be among those paying their respects in Westminster Abbey.

The Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) said the abbey will be so packed that it would be impossible to offer more invitations, according to documents seen by Politico.

The guidelines sent to embassies on Saturday night said the department 'regrets that, because of limited space at the state funeral service and associated events, no other members of the principal guest's family, staff or entourage may be admitted.

Heads of state that cannot attend are able to choose someone else as their official representative in their stead.

Will ex-presidents, including Trump and Obama, attend Queen Elizabeth II's funeral? Not likely.
USA Today, Sep 12, 2022

President Joe Biden won’t be taking a delegation with him when he travels to London for the state funeral for Queen Elizabeth II, making it unlikely that ex-presidents like Barack Obama and Donald Trump will go.

The White House announced Sunday that Biden had accepted an invitation to attend the funeral. But the invitation “was for the president and the first lady only,” White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said Monday.

Buckingham Palace didn’t grant Biden permission to bring a U.S. delegation with him to the ceremony next Monday at Westminster Abbey.

Since the invitation from the palace was for President Biden and Jill Biden, former U.S. presidents would be able to attend only if they got their own invitations. Former President Jimmy Carter did not get an invitation, his office said. Spokespeople for Obama, Trump, George W.  Bush and Bill Clinton did not comment.

Westminster Abbey is expected to be full for the funeral, so attendance by foreign leaders will be limited to one representative from each country and their partner, according to Foreign Office documents obtained by Politico. The Foreign Office did not respond to a request from USA TODAY for comment.

Princess Anne, the Princess Royal, releases first statement on Queen Elizabeth's death

Princess Anne released her first statement regarding the death of her mother, Queen Elizabeth II.

"I was fortunate to share the last 24 hours of my dearest Mother’s life. It has been an honour and a privilege to accompany her on her final journeys," the Princess Royal wrote. "Witnessing the love and respect shown by so many on these journeys has been both humbling and uplifting. We will all share unique memories. I offer my thanks to each and every one who share our sense of loss."

"We may have been reminded how much of her presence and contribution to our national identity we took for granted," she added. "I am also so grateful for the support and understanding offered to my dear brother Charles as he accepts the added responsibilities of The Monarch."

Queen Elizabeth II's only daughter concluded her statement by thanking her mother.

Although I realize that these people were trained for these situations, I can't in my wildest dreams imagine how stressful this extended ceremony must be. Constant media (good and bad), criticism of past events from other countries, the pomp and display.

I know how stressful a regular old funeral is, so for that reason alone they have my sympathy.

And I'm assuming that the new pm is having to make the logistics go well. Even with help, if they don't...
