FNC’s Kilmeade: ‘Zero Tolerance’ Abortion Restrictions ‘Freaked Out’ People, Hurting Republicans

Pam Key 30 Aug 2022

Fox News anchor Brian Kilmeade said Tuesday on FBN’s “Kudlow” that suburban white women were “freaked out” by the Supreme Court overturning Roe v. Wade, hurting Republicans in polling for the midterm election.

Kilmeade said, “Well, the three things the Democratic Party is polling well in, coronavirus still, which is inexplicable; abortion because they are pro-choice and a lot of the zero tolerance, when it comes to these states has a lot of people freaked out. I think the 15 weeks seems to be – even if you’re the most pro-life person, your neighbor probably isn’t – so how do you govern? So I think those are the issues.”

He continued, “I believe that one thing I did see over the weekend, six points according to the NBC poll, six points were gained since the Dobbs decision for suburban white woman that were beginning to, who Trump lost in 2020 to a great degree, they were beginning to come back to the Republican Party. Then with that decision, what the Republicans have to do, go to work, explain exactly what they want to do. One of the things they have to do is tackle dicey decisions on abortion where they stand.”

Guest host Sean Duffy said, “On strict political issue on that Republicans have not fought back. There are ads run by Democrats calling Republicans extremists and radicals. Listen, the Democrat position is actually extreme on abortion. It is late-term partial-birth.”

Killing unborn babies freaks me out.
If a political party does not have its foundation in the determination to advance a cause that is right and that is moral, then it is not a political party; it is merely a conspiracy to seize power.

We always stop short of helping women who may want or need it through the pregnancies they now view as a government mandate.

Why aren't statehouses implementing the strictest abortion changes not also sponsoring some combination of pre-natal care, birth assistance, counselling;  education accommodations; unemployment benefit extentions and access to adoption agencies?

Not only is ignoring this side of the equation politically tone deaf, it's cruel.

  • I was a "conspiracy theorist". Now I'm just right.
The whole zero tolerance canard is a piece of propaganda by the press.

Virtually every State makes provisions for rape, incest, or the life of the mother, even these constitute only a tiny fraction of those wanting to terminate their pregnancies.

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

Have to agree with Weird above.
The Dobbs decision has thrown a wrench into the "red wave" -- at least in some crucial swing state elections.

Dobbs was a victory for the right.
But the victory will carry with it a good deal of cost -- and that cost is coming at exactly the wrong time in history...

The decisions gave the GOP the chance to do some good things.

They chose to double down.  Not a good move.

I am certainly not pro-choice, but at the same time....this isn't my top priority.

Watchin Blake Masters shoot himself in the foot with it (then dial back) hasn't been fun.

He's still getting hit over the head with it......

Why can't we just a little bit smarter about this one ?

Come on, @Smokin Joe ...

Politically speaking, the GOP are worthless and inept.  Talk about bringing a knife to a gunfight.

Overturning Roe V. Wade THIS YEAR was like locking the barn door with the horses inside...then setting the barn on fire.  IDIOTS!

Has nothing to do with the GOP, really.
The cases were on the docket, the NONPARTISAN arbiters of what is and isn't Constitutional overturned a bad previous ruling.
The issue was whether the previous ruling was in accordance with the Constitution.
It should not be a partisan question, but the Democrats have made it so.

Where the GOP has failed:
They let the Democrats present this as a partisan thing.
They failed to point out that the ruling only returns the question of what laws will govern abortion to the States to decide. If your State is pro-abortion on demand (because that's what the whining is about), the laws in your State will reflect that.

Nothing in the ruling says they cannot.

If not, then not. Don't like it, change it or move (or seek that 'treatment' elsewhere, like the rest of us in flyover country often do for other medical matters).

The failure of the GOP to get THAT message out is what is causing the crap.

Yeah, causen only white women get pregnant, are effected by having to spend years of their lives and income that COULD have been spent to improve the lives of other children they MIGHT have been able to afford to have, right?

Some of you people are your own worse enemy.

You would think suburban white women would be well enough educated to use contraceptives effectively if they don't want to have children at the moment. Or maybe they spent too much time learning about two mommies, two daddies, and trannies to figure out how their body works.

He is right on the politics.

What is more, some states had badly written trigger laws which could be read as forbidding the treatment of an ectopic pregnancy and plainly forbade abortions in the vanishingly rare circumstances where the mother's life is actually in danger from continuing what had begun as a normal pregnancy (cf. the recent case in Malta).  People are right to object to such laws.  There is even a pro-life argument against such laws, as they pose a threat to the lives of mothers facing such unfortunate and dire circumstances.
And when they behead your own people in the wars which are to come, then you will know what this was all about.
