Hasn’t the FBI always been this way?  Not in a partisan sense, but generally abusive and corrupt.  Those with ethics tended to look the other way.

The next GOP president will have to clean out the entire justice dept, and that will be a dangerous undertaking.

You hit the nail on the head.  They are now an idelological gestapo arm of the left.

  • I don't believe in Trump anymore, he's an illusion
That would have been less intimidating.  The FBI went out of their way to locate and serve Perry in person while he was on a family vacation.

It's not about the data in the phone, it's about proving to him the FBI can reach out and arrest him any time they want, anywhere.  The obvious question is raised:  How did the FBI get his location?
Oh heck, I doubt the Feebs went out of their way one bit to track down Scott, I would put money on them, the DOJ and probably even the CIA tracking every single republican congressman and senator(even the RINOs) every day so they always knew where Scott was.

How much longer until the demofascists don't even try to pretend anymore

Obviously.  Did they have a warrant to access his GPS

Warrant?  HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

btw, they don't use GPS.  They triangulate off cell towers.  You would be shocked to know how many people do this already.  Any time you go to a sports event, the venue picks up your cellphone ping signal identifying itself to the cell network, and through that, they match it to your profile.
If a political party does not have its foundation in the determination to advance a cause that is right and that is moral, then it is not a political party; it is merely a conspiracy to seize power.

Very good points!

Why, from the very phone in question... That isn't even creepy anymore.

If you don't want folks knowing where you are, leave all your electronics at home.

Even so, your point may be well made - either way, it is theater.

Yes, it is.  Hand in Glove with Dizzy Lizzy's J6 show trial.

Yep.  And that doesn't mean have it with you turned off.  Because even when off, it is pinging the network.  Cellphones are the devil.  And the Left knows it.

Seems to me the Feebs should have had a warrant to access his GPS tracks from the cloud.

WHAT? They could BUY it from any number of vendors. I don't doubt all they'd need to do is ask.

That's right... Though a Faraday cage would likely do it.

Yes, It's not off. More like asleep, in computer terms. It is still pinging intermittently until the batteries die.

The first time I knew this was true was when they were looking for those guys that were lost on Mt Hood years ago. Even though the phone they had was off (not online), they were waiting for those pings to locate them.

Really?

If it has a battery in it's pinging. Which is why many newer phones no longer have replaceable batteries.

I'm trying to find confirmation of this on Google. This is pretty testable with a spectrum analyzer. And of course "cell phone" is a pretty generalized data point. Interesting question though. I'm skeptical though.

Well there is a reason why, when you go to a meeting in the dark of night, that phones are surrendered before you are escorted to the meeting place...

But yeah... it should show up with a simple RF meter.

Good point from another website:

And to the OP, no, when a phone is off, it will not ping the cell towers.  That would kill your battery in short time.  Could you imagine the complaints it would generate from people who turn their phones off frequently?  Turn your phone off when it has a full charge, and it's down 30% when you turn it back on 12 hours later?

Well that's not necessarily true - That supposes a frequent ping. Lets suppose in theory that the phone is only pinging to maintain the lease... As a feature, btw, to ensure a quick boot time () ... That would be a ping, what, every 12 hrs or so? Which would hardly effect battery life.

So it would matter how often the ping occurs. How often it is, I don't know.

I can tell you the phone will go dead eventually even if shut off. I have often left the phone in the truck*, walking off, and returning days later, the phone has lost significant battery.

*The phone is useless beyond cell range.

Back at the beginning of the Iraq/Afghan war, the NSA created some type of malware that causes phones to ping when they are OFF.  They used this to track terrorist suspects.  After eight years of Obama, I suspect that this 'malware' is now a government-mandated standard feature on all smartphones.

I reckon I'm the only member of this forum who does not carry a cell phone around, or use one 99.99% of the time.
(I do own a "flip phone", but it's ALWAYS turned off and left at home).

Nope. I have a cheap TracFone, which I turn on once a day for a couple of minutes to see if anyone texted me, then I put it in a Faraday bag and ignore it for another 24 hours.

I go even cheaper than that.  Have used a pay as you go burner for 17 years.  And only use if if I am traveling.  And then I leave it off, with battery out of it.  Only time it is ever used, is if I need roadside assistance.

People wonder WHY their nation of freedom is beginning to look like a third world banana Republic.   I comes from a citizenry that sits back and ACCEPTS ITS GOVERNMENT ACTING LIKE A THIRD WORLD BANANA Republic.  We have watched the democrats trying traitorous betrayals of justice for many years now, while ignoring the criminal actions of the Clintons and Obama, and Biden, and not care.  Awhoring banana Republic stuff.
We watch our Republic dying, and the murder of opposition becoming a preferred frequent political movement of choice.
