Trump ally Rep. Scott Perry says the FBI seized his cell phone one day after Mar-a-Lago raid
The confiscation of Perry’s phone comes one day after the FBI searched Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate

By Paul Steinhauser | Fox News

EXCLUSIVE – Republican Rep. Scott Perry of Pennsylvania says that the FBI has confiscated his cell phone.

Perry, in an exclusive statement, told Fox News on Tuesday that while traveling with his family earlier in the day, he was approached by three FBI agents who handed him a warrant and requested that he turn over his cell phone.

The confiscation of the congressman’s personal phone comes one day after FBI agents searched former President Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach, Florida.

"This morning, while traveling with my family, 3 FBI agents visited me and seized my cell phone. They made no attempt to contact my lawyer, who would have made arrangements for them to have my phone if that was their wish. I’m outraged — though not surprised — that the FBI under the direction of Merrick Garland’s DOJ, would seize the phone of a sitting Member of Congress," Perry said in his statement. "My phone contains info about my legislative and political activities, and personal/private discussions with my wife, family, constituents, and friends. None of this is the government’s business."

excerpt:

Perry has been a target of interest of the Democratic dominated January 6 House select committee that is investigating the deadly 2021 attack on the Capitol by right wing extremists and other Trump supporters who aimed to disrupt the congressional certification of Biden’s Electoral College victory. Perry was in communication numerous times with the Trump White House in the days and weeks ahead of the storming of the Capitol.

Garland sends the FBI to retrieve his private cell phone.

This is America, and these Gestapo tactics are not welcome. There will be a reckoning.

They were out to get Trump before he was president.

They were out to get him when he was president.

They’re out to get him after he left the White House.

And now they’re out to get @RepScottPerry, a general who honorably served our country for years.

Scott Perry's bio:

Quote
Scott Perry brings a unique background of hard work, small business, military leadership and community involvement to the U.S. House of Representatives. Perry served three terms as a Pennsylvania State Representative, where he established a record for protecting Taxpayers’ interests in Harrisburg. While serving there, he was assigned to the Committees on Appropriations, Consumer Affairs, Labor Relations, Veterans Affairs, Emergency Preparedness, and Rules.

He earned the privilege of serving as the Congressman from Pennsylvania’s 4th Congressional District (York, Adams & part Cumberland Counties) from 2013-2017. He earned re-election to the newly-redistricted 10th District (Dauphin County and parts of Cumberland and York Counties) in 2018, and presently serves on the U.S. House Committees on Transportation & Infrastructure, and Foreign Affairs. Perry is a Member of, and the newly elected Chairman of the House Freedom Caucus – whose mission is “to give a voice to countless Americans who feel that Washington does not represent them. We support open, accountable and limited government, the Constitution and the Rule of Law, and policies that promote the liberty, safety and prosperity of all Americans.”.

Perry knows the importance of hard work and dedication. He’s the grandson of Colombian immigrants, and the son of a single mom who fled abuse and worked several jobs to survive and support her children – with whom she finally landed in Central Pennsylvania in their first home on Berryhill Street in Harrisburg, then to Dillsburg. Scott and his family were on public assistance for several years during his youth. He was raised in a spartan home, which initially had no electricity and plumbing, required bathing in a steel tub on the porch, pumped water from a well, and cut firewood with his older brother to keep the family warm in winter.

Perry began working at age 13 picking fruit at Ashcombe’s Farm in Mechanicsburg. Since then, he’s worked as a mechanic, dock worker, draftsman and a licensed insurance agent, amongst myriad other jobs. He’s a 1980 graduate of Northern High School and the Cumberland-Perry Vo-Tech School. He put himself through college while working a full-time job, and graduated from the Pennsylvania State University in 1991, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration Management.

In 1993, Perry and his mom started their own mechanical contracting firm, initially in their garage. The Dillsburg-based business provided contract construction and maintenance services to municipal and investor-owned utilities from North Carolina to New York and specialized in large meter calibration.

Perry began his military service when he enlisted in the Army in 1980. He attended basic training at Fort Dix NJ, and graduated Advanced Individual Training at Fort Belvoir VA, as a technical drafting specialist. He graduated as the president of his Officer Candidate School and was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the Field Artillery branch. He soon branch-transferred to Army Aviation, where he earned qualifications in almost every aircraft in the Army’s rotary wing inventory (Huey, Cayuse, Kiowa, Cobra, Chinook, Apache, and Blackhawk), as well as the Instructor Pilot rating. He’s commanded at the company, battalion and brigade levels; notably, then-Lieutenant Colonel Perry commanded the 2-104th General Support Aviation Battalion, which deployed to Iraq from 2009-2010, during which he flew 44 combat missions. In 2011, he was promoted to the rank of Colonel, became Commander of the Fort Indiantown Gap National Training Site, and was selected to attend the coveted United States Army War College, from which he earned a Master’s Degree in Strategic Studies. Perry was privileged to be selected for promotion to the rank of Brigadier General in 2014, and served as the Assistant Division Commander of the 28th Infantry Division – the Army’s oldest, actively serving Division. After serving in his final position as the Assistant Adjutant General, Pennsylvania Army National Guard, Brigadier General Perry retired on 1 March 2019, upon nearly 40 years of military service...

Let's see the warrant.

At some point people need to start fighting back against the gestapo. The judges signing these warrants are corrupt as it gets.

This is theater.

Everything on that phone is backed up online, and a private phone is likely to be encrypted. Far easier to obtain the info from cloud sources... Often without a warrant.

After so many years to the clintons crime syndicate running DC, then Obama, and now probably the worst crime syndicate to ever run/rule America Joe and Hunter, and the FBI's reputation in shameless taters.  The FBIhas to do some thing to salvage even a few taters of their sterling Reputation they used to have.  Going after Trump again will garner favor with the democrats they are so deep in debt to, especially after attempting to over throw Trump while he was in office.  An incredibly massive overthrow of justice, blame shifting, and coupe attempt to destroy Trump to save the guilty democrats and FBI stooges in cahoots!  Would you believe the outrageous LIARS, THAT ATTEMPT TO even try to tell us that this is some kind of perverse equal or outrageous justice?

...  The circumstances surrounding the seizure were not immediately known. Perry, though, has been a figure in the congressional investigation into President Donald Trump’s actions leading up to the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol insurrection.

Former senior Justice Department officials have testified that Perry, a Pennsylvania Republican, had “an important role” in Trump’s effort to try to install Jeffrey Clark — a top Justice official who was pushing Trump’s baseless claims of election fraud — as the acting attorney general.  ...

The lawmaker, representing Pennsylvania’s 10th District, was cited more than 50 times in a Senate Judiciary report released in October 2021 outlining how Trump’s effort to overturn his election defeat to Joe Biden brought the Justice Department to the brink of chaos and prompted top officials there and at the White House to threaten to resign.  ...

So in other words, the actions by the Justice Department are purely political and have nothing at all to do with a legitimate criminal investigation

That would have been less intimidating.  The FBI went out of their way to locate and serve Perry in person while he was on a family vacation.

It's not about the data in the phone, it's about proving to him the FBI can reach out and arrest him any time they want, anywhere.  The obvious question is raised:  How did the FBI get his location?

Exactly.

Seems to me the Feebs should have had a warrant to access his GPS tracks from the cloud.

(As an aside, I always make sure my phones lock automatically so they require a fingerprint to unlock.  If I leave it open, the cops can take my phone and rummage through it at their whim because "unlocked, I have no reasonable expectation of privacy.")

They tracked his phone.  Duh.

Obviously.  Did they have a warrant to access his GPS, or did his carrier simply provide the data for the asking as they have done many times before?

The major carriers have an unholy alliance with the DoJ.

Hasn’t the FBI always been this way?  Not in a partisan sense, but generally abusive and corrupt.  Those with ethics tended to look the other way.

The next GOP president will have to clean out the entire justice dept, and that will be a dangerous undertaking.
