SpaceX will launch the Korea Pathfinder Lunar Orbiter, or KPLO to the Moon. This is South Korea’s first space exploration mission. The KPLO spacecraft carries science instruments to image permanently shadowed craters to search for signs of water ice, measure the composition of lunar regolith, and capture high-resolution images to map future landing sites. The Falcon 9’s first stage booster will land on a drone ship in the Atlantic Ocean.
Liftoff from launch pad 40 at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station is scheduled for 7:08 p.m. EDT (2308 GMT) today.
