TSRA Political Action Committee Email 7/22/2022

Premier Firearms Association In The Great State Of Texas!

You've heard the expression "If you give them an inch, they'll take a mile". Congressional Democrats led by President Joe Biden are trying to take that mile.

You may have heard about the Assault Weapons Ban bill coming down the pipeline in DC. (Here's the link to the original bill, if you like to read it or see the summary https://www.congress.gov/bill/117th-congress/house-bill/1808/text )

In essence, this bill would ban all firearms that are not bolt action, lever action, pump or slide action. Also, it would ban magazines that hold more than 15 rounds, (that's been amended from the original bill that called for 10 rounds) folding or telescoping stocks and threaded barrels amongst other things.

The bill, as of this morning, is out of Committee and according to what I am reading in the media, the Biden Democrats are still looking for votes. But with over 200 sponsors, I anticipate it will get a favorable vote on the floor of the House.

Basically, if it isn't a hunting long gun, it's an "Assault Weapon".

But, they are going to try! They got their "inch" with Senator Cornyn's help as you all know. The question is, will they get their mile?

Please don't let them vote without hearing from YOU!

I would urge you all to contact your Congressman and make sure they vote against this bill. If you don't know who that is, go here: https://wrm.capitol.texas.gov/home put in your address and all shall be revealed.

And while you are making one call, please do call Senator Cornyn at 202-224-2934 and make sure he stays in his lane on this. His job is to represent Texans and after he gave them their "inch" on the last gun control grab (yes, that's sarcasm, that was hardly an inch!!!), please tell him that this mile is just too far!

OPPOSE the New Federal "Assault Weapons" Ban (H.R. 1808) TODAY!
« Reply #1 on: July 23, 2022, 05:56:08 pm »
One Click Politics

Tyrants in DC are pushing through a new federal "assault weapons" ban that is even more draconian than the original 1994 ban. HR 1808 - which would ban nearly all ARs, AKs, AR pistols (and even many handguns and shotguns) - was advanced by the House Judiciary Committee on Wednesday, July 20th. By gaining the approval of the Judiciary Committee in a 25-18 vote, H.R. 1808 now awaits a full vote in the House.

H.R. 1808 would make it illegal for a person to import, sell, manufacture, or transfer the following:

•   All semi-automatic rifles that can accept a detachable magazine and have at least one of the following features: a pistol grip; a forward grip; a folding, telescoping, or detachable stock; a grenade launcher; a barrel shroud; or a threaded barrel.

•   All semi-automatic rifles that have a fixed magazine with the capacity to accept more than 10 rounds.

•   Bump stocks and any part, combination of parts, component, device, attachment, or accessory that is designed or functions to accelerate the rate of fire of a semi-automatic rifle but not convert the rifle into a machinegun under NFA definitions.

•   All semi-automatic pistols that can accept a detachable magazine and have at least one of the following features: a threaded barrel; a second pistol grip; a barrel shroud; a capacity to accept a detachable magazine at some location outside of the pistol grip; or a semi-automatic version of any automatic firearm.

•   All semi-automatic shotguns that have at least one of the following: a folding, telescoping, or detachable stock; a pistol grip; a fixed magazine with the capacity to accept more than 5 rounds; the ability to accept a detachable magazine; a forward grip; a grenade launcher; or a shotgun with a revolving cylinder.

•   Any ammunition feeding devices (magazines, strips, drums, etc.) capable of accepting more than 10 rounds.

•   While this bill has a "grandfather" clause, allowing for the sale, transfer, or possession of restricted weapons and magazines lawfully possessed before the bill's passage, it would choke off the supply of these items and drive up the cost for future generations of peaceable individuals.

The House has already passed this with all Republicans opposing it and all Democrats for it.

It next goes to the Senate - I don't think that there's going to be enough opposition in the Senate and it will pass.

We are in trouble if it does.

The FBI and ATF are going door to door in Deleware to check on concealed weapons permit holder to check on guns and also those who recently purchased firearms and going to the owner's doors and getting serial numbers.

I posted a video the other day.

The FBI is mandating a sheriff in Missouri to hand over information on gun owners and he so far has refused.

As soon as it is signed by Bidet, someone should immediately move for a nationwide injunction. It’s patently unconstitutional.

?? Someone should, but it's not going to happen.  We have a liberal, marxist, DOJ and a SCOTUS that they can pack to tilt the courts liberal.

Game over.  We have no rights under the Constitution that are going to be adhered to.

It will not pass the Senate. There are nowhere near 60 votes needed there to overcome a filibuster.

It is patently unconstitutional as well, based on recent decisions.

I haven't seen where it's passed the full House.

House Democrats’ ‘Assault Weapons’ Ban Prohibits Semiautomatic Pistols Too

AWR Hawkins 23 Jul 2022

The “assault weapons” ban legislation that passed the House Judiciary Committee Wednesday not only prohibits AR-15s and AK-47s, but numerous semiautomatic pistols and shotguns as well.

The legislation, H.R. 1808, is sponsored by Rep. David Cicilline (D-RI).

On July 15, 2022, Breitbart News warned that H.R. 1808 bans the manufacture and sale of at least 45 specific AR-15 rifles , including, “Bushmaster ACR, Bushmaster Carbon 15, Bushmaster MOE series, Bushmaster XM15, Chiappa Firearms MFour rifles, Colt Match Target rifles, CORE Rifle Systems CORE15 rifles, Daniel Defense M4A1 rifles, Devil Dog Arms 15 Series rifles,” as well as the Diamondback DB15 rifles.

Moreover, it bans the manufacture and sale of all AR-pistols, and thirteen are specifically listed: “American Spirit AR–15 pistol, Bushmaster Carbon 15 pistol, Chiappa Firearms M4 Pistol GEN II, CORE Rifle Systems CORE15 Roscoe pistol, Daniel Defense MK18 pistol, DoubleStar Corporation AR pistol, DPMS AR–15 pistol, Jesse James Nomad AR–15 pistol, Olympic Arms AR–15 pistol, Osprey Armament MK–18 pistol, POF USA AR pistols, Rock River Arms LAR 15 pistol,” and the “Uselton Arms Air-Lite M–4 pistol.”

But the language of H.R. 1808 also makes clear the legislation bans numerous semiautomatic pistols as well.

The ban applies to semiautomatic pistols with detachable magazines and threaded barrels. Because of the popularity of suppressors for hearing protection, nearly every semiautomatic pistol manufacturer makes pistol models with threaded barrels. This means an untold number of semiautomatic pistols would be banned by H.R. 1808.

Also, any semiautomatic pistol with a fixed magazine capable of holding more than ten rounds would be banned, as would any semiautomatic shotgun with a fixed magazine holding more than five rounds.

H.R. 1808 also bans semiautomatic shotguns that accept detachable magazines and have a pistol grip.

They cost roughly $3 to make (depending on the material) so they cleared a profit of about $9,000. Not bad for a weekends work.
