Top Saudi official says he 'did not hear' Biden blame Crown Prince for Khashoggi murder

"I didn't hear that particular phrase," Minister of State for Foreign Affairs of Saudi Arabia Adel al-Jubeir told Fox News' Alex Hogan after Biden's trip to the region had concluded. "The President mentioned that the US is committed to human rights because since the founding fathers wrote the constitution and he also made the point that American presidents -- this is part of the agenda of every American president."

Biden told reporters on Friday that he had told Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman that he believed the Saudi leader was responsible for Jamal Khashoggi's murder in 2018.

"With respect to the murder of Khashoggi, I raised it at the top of the meeting, making it clear what I thought of it at the time and what I think about it now," Biden told reporters.

Biden added, "He basically said that he was not personally responsible for it. I indicated that he was, and he said he was not personally responsible for it and he took action against those who were responsible."

In other words, Biden lied.
If a political party does not have its foundation in the determination to advance a cause that is right and that is moral, then it is not a political party; it is merely a conspiracy to seize power.     -Dwight Eisenhower-

"The [U.S.] Constitution is a limitation on the government, not on private individuals ... it does not prescribe the conduct of private individuals, only the conduct of the government ... it is not a charter for government power, but a charter of the citizen's protection against the government."     -Ayn Rand-

Saudis Contradicted Joe Biden More than Once During Gulf Visit

Deborah Brand 17 Jul 2022

Saudi Arabian officials contradicted President Joe Biden on more than one occasion during his visit to the Gulf kingdom, the first time was with regards to oil production while the second involved a potential normalization agreement with Israel brokered by Washington — essentially undercutting the two primary goals for the trip.

Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman on Saturday cast doubt on Biden’s promise to boost oil production and bring down prices, saying his country had almost reached its capacity and could increase production only nominally to 13 million barrels per day.

“After that the kingdom will not have any more capability to increase production,” said the de factor ruler, known as MBS.

Even that number is only expected to be reached by 2027.

The crown prince also denounced the Biden administration’s “unrealistic” goals for a greener future.

Biden disputes Saudi account of accusing crown prince of Khashoggi’s murder
by Brad Dress - 07/17/22 8:35 AM ET

President Biden early on Sunday disputed an account that he did not accuse Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman of the murder of Washington Post journalist Jamaal Khashoggi during a private meeting with the nation’s de-facto leader on Friday.

Saudi Arabia’s foreign minister, who was present during the meeting with the crown prince, said Biden did not confront the crown prince about Khashoggi’s murder.

Speaking to reporters after he returned from his trip to the Middle East, Biden responded “No,” when asked if the foreign minister was telling the truth.

Biden on Friday said he raised the 2018 murder and added that he told the crown prince he thought he was responsible for it.

“I indicated I thought he was,” Biden said. “He said he was not personally responsible for it, and he took action against those who were responsible.”

Weeks ahead of departing on the trip, the president was criticized for appearing to curry favor with a controversial leader in order to possibly ramp up oil production to lower gas prices during an election year and one with a dismal human rights record.

U.S. intelligence has concluded the crown prince was behind the brutal slaying of Khashoggi in a report that Biden agreed to publicize.

Biden was photographed fist-bumping Salman at the royal palace in Jeddah, drawing a round of criticism including from Washington Post publisher Fred Ryan, who said it “projected a level of intimacy” far worse than a handshake.

“The first bump between President Biden and Mohammed bin Salman was worse than a handshake — it was shameful,” Ryan said in a statement.
