Birx describes a White House divided on COVID response
By KEVIN FREKING

WASHINGTON (AP) — A lack of clear, concise and consistent messaging about the seriousness of the novel coronavirus in the earliest months of its spread created a false sense of security among Americans that the pandemic would not be serious and resulted in inaction early on across the federal government.

That was the assessment of Dr. Deborah Birx, who served as the COVID response coordinator under former President Donald Trump and testified for the first time Thursday before a House panel about her time in the Trump administration.

“It wasn’t just the president, many of our leaders, were using words like ‘we could contain,’ and you cannot contain a virus that cannot be seen,” Birx said. “And it wasn’t being seen because we weren’t testing.”

Birx appeared before the House Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Crisis, whose partisan divide was evident throughout the hearing as Democrats focused their attention on missteps made during the Trump administration while Republicans did the same when it came to Democratic-led states such as New York or under the Biden administration, such as when President Joe Biden overstated the efficacy of vaccines by telling Americans in a CNN town hall, “You’re not going to get COVID if you have these vaccinations.”

Why the uncertainty?

China not informing the world about the Wuhan outbreak for 2-4 weeks delayed awareness.

China withholding the DNA sequence of the SARS-CoV-2 virus for 2 weeks delayed development of tests, vaccines, and treatments.

China denying for 4-6 weeks that human-human transmission had happened delayed awareness of Covid's seriousness.

China not shutting down flights and trains out of Hubei Province until January 23 (IIRC) spread the virus while diminishing understanding of Covid's seriousness.

China not shutting down flights out of China spread the virus while diminishing understanding of Covid's seriousness.

National-level Dems downplaying the seriousness of Covid diminished understanding of Covid's seriousness.

National-level Dems accusing Trump of racism and xenophobia after he shut down China travel diminished understanding of Covid's seriousness.

For the latter two, see https://www.gopbriefingroom.com/index.php/topic,412821.0.html .

If Birx failed to mention all this, she was lying. When it comes to information, GIGO reigns. But did Trump fail to take Covid seriously? Submitted for your consideration:

February 2020 - https://www.gopbriefingroom.com/index.php/topic,412485.0.html

In those two months, the Federal government started working with Moderna and Janssen Research (Johnson & Johnson), who developed 2 of the 3 Covid vaccines currently approved or authorized for use in the US.

In those two months, the Federal government started testing that led to the approval of remdesivir as a treatment for Covid.

In those two months, the Federal government started working with AbCellera and Regeneron for the two mab treatments that were authorized as treatments for Covid.

In those two months, the Federal government developed and first shipped test kits for the SARS-CoV-2 virus (the CDC lab that produced them F'ed up those first kits by careless handling during production).

When it became clear the CDC's test kits were defective, outside labs with EUAs pending were allowed, on February 29th, to begin using those kits.

All in all, even with delayed and incomplete information, and despite Dems' minimization and harassment (anybody remember January 2020's Shampeachment 1.0?), under Trump's leadership the Federal government got a Hell of a lot done or started!

If, as anti-Covid-vaxxers claim, https://www.poynter.org/fact-checking/2021/robert-f-kennedy-jr-said-the-covid-19-vaccine-is-the-deadliest-vaccine-ever-made-thats-not-true/ , https://gospelnewsnetwork.org/2021/11/23/covid-shots-are-the-deadliest-vaccines-in-medical-history/ , The Vaccine is deadly, where in the US have Pfizer and Moderna hidden the millions of bodies of those who died of "vaccine injury"? Is reality a Big Pharma Shill?

Millions now living should have died. Anti-Covid-Vaxxer ghouls hardest hit.

So what?  No one trusted you.

BTW, you, Birx, supported the no travel restrictions for the holidays as you were traveling to be with your extended family for Thanksiving.  Any problem with this messaging?

Sure Birx was lying as was Fauci, CDC and the WHO, Pelosi, Chuckie and now Joe.  With all the information that has surfaced, there should be no doubt.

Yes, Trump did one heck of a job during the pandemic and displayed extreme leadership. Yet, people supposedly voted Joe into office?  I declare B.S.
