The House committee investigating the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the Capitol is pressing pause on its hearings for next week and picking up again in July.

Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-Miss.), the chairman of the committee, told reporters Wednesday that the committee would hold off on the two final hearings it had planned for this month.

“There’s been a deluge of new evidence since we got started. And we just need to catch our breath, go through the new evidence, and then incorporate it into the hearings we have planned,” Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-Md.) told reporters.

Rep. Zoe Lofgren (D-Calif.) similarly mentioned a “mountain of new information.”

“I don’t think we’ve established a date yet, but we have a mountain of new information that’s come in that we have to go through,” Lofgren told The Hill.

The committee has recently received more information from the National Archives, and Raskin said it has also received a “deluge” of information from various sources — a comment that comes after the committee flashed its web address in the hopes of enticing new witnesses.

The House panel examining last year’s mob attack on the U.S. Capitol might need to hold more hearings than initially expected due to public meetings this month that have resulted in new information being obtained by investigators, House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-Md.) said.

Hoyer said he spoke Wednesday morning with the select committee chairman, Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-Miss.), who indicated the panel has received a wave of new tips since it launched a series of public hearings in June. While Hoyer emphasized there’s been no final decision on staging additional hearings, the influx of new information might make that move necessary.

“There may well be a need for further hearings based upon information that they are now receiving. We will see,” Hoyer told reporters in the Capitol. “I’m not saying there are going to be. But there may well be a decision by the committee to have further hearings on the information that has been elicited because of the hearings.”

I hope they drag this out through Oct and Nov.  Can you imagine what the typical voter will be thinking as they plan out their meatless M-W-F while contemplating cancelling out their car insurance since they can no longer afford to drive?  And this will be the Democrat message - TRUMP, TRUMP, TRUMP!  They'll be wishing Trump was still in office with a stark reminder why he isn't.

CNN drops to lowest weekday key demo audience in 22 years: ‘Obsession with Jan. 6 NOT working magic’

Fox News journalist Brian Flood reported on the historic fail of CNN as it plummets even further in the ratings despite the Jan. 6 inquisition being played in primetime.

CNN’s magic bullet painting conservatives as insurrectionists and domestic terrorists is evidently experiencing an epic face-plant in regards to viewership. That imagined political lifeline is beyond frayed.

The leftist network had its smallest audience in 22 years on Friday among the coveted 25-54-year-old demographic, according to Fox News. It averaged a dismal 56,000 viewers in that slot. The last time CNN’s numbers were that bad was on July 10, 2000.

On CNN’s no good, very bad Friday, the outlet also experienced its smallest weekday audience among all viewers since June of 2014. It averaged 283,000 viewers. It’s a miracle the network is even still on the air with those numbers.
