Did Lithuania Light the Fuse on World War III?
« on: June 19, 2022, 01:25:07 pm »
Gateway Pundit By Larry Johnson 6/18/2022

In a move of staggering stupidity and hubris, Lithuanian banned the transit of Russian goods to Kaliningrad effective today, June 18, 2022.  Kaliningrad, which is wedged between Poland on the west and Lithuania on the east, is home to almost a half-million Russians and the headquarters for the Russian Navy’s Baltic Sea force.

Lithuania claims it is simply abiding by the sanctions imposed by the European Union. After all, Lithuania is a member of the European Union and NATO. But that is the point. This is a deliberate provocation. It is laying economic siege to a vital interest of Russia. While there is no immediate danger to the Russian population of Kaliningrad, this is a flash point that could lead to an actual war as opposed to a special military operation.

Kaliningrad, formerly known as Königsberg, was put under Soviet control in 1945 according to the terms of the Potsdam Agreement, which was backed by the United States and Great Britain. The Russian people paid blood for this land in 1945 and are not going to relinquish it in the face of bullying or threats from the west. If you are going to poke an angry bear with a stick, you better be damn sure that bear is locked up and can’t get you. Russia sure as hell is not secure in a cage.

Lithuania just might be responding to this:

Russian Duma questions Lithuania’s independence By Giedre Peseckyte | EURACTIV.com Jun 8, 2022

Quote
A draft bill submitted to the Russian State Duma calls for repealing the Decree of the State Council of the USSR “On the Recognition of the Independence of the Republic of Lithuania.”

The draft was submitted by Yevgeny Fyodorov, a member of United Russia, the governing party. In his explanatory note, Fyodorov said the decree recognising Lithuania’s independence is illegal, “since it was adopted by an unconstitutional body and in violation […] of the Constitution of the USSR.”

The decree was adopted in 1991 at a meeting of the State Council of the USSR chaired by President Mikhail Gorbachev. It announced the recognition of Lithuania as an independent state.

If so, Russia lit the fuse.

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

Damn straight.  And lets not forget how all those Russians got into Königsberg in the first place.  This was never Russian territory.  Prussian, yes.  Russian, no.  Russia performed its own version of 'ethnic cleansing' there in 1945, similar to what they are doing in Ukraine today.
If a political party does not have its foundation in the determination to advance a cause that is right and that is moral, then it is not a political party; it is merely a conspiracy to seize power.

The Russian Foreign Ministry has responded to Lithuania's partial blockade of Kaliningrad, writing in a statement that they consider the "provocative measures" to be "openly hostile" and warning that the Kremlin may take action to "protect its national interests."

Not good.  Not good at all.  Unless there's some kind of miracle, I think we can expect WWIII soon.
Romans 12:16-21

Live in harmony with one another; do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly, do not claim to be wiser than you are.  Do not repay anyone evil for evil, but take thought for what is noble in the sight of all.  If it is possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all…do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

No, Russia's sabre rattling is not good.  Fortunately, there are countries like Lithuania, Poland, Estonia, and Ukraine willing to stand up to them while countries like Germany and the United States cower.  You want to see WWIII break out?  Then keep exuding weakness to the world like we did in Afghanistan and like we are doing now with Russia.

East Prussia - 1905

Lots of Germans, Poles, Lithuanians.  But no Russians.

I seriously doubt Russia will attack a NATO nation.  That would drag NATO into armed conflict with Russia, and Russia cannot handle Ukraine let alone the entire Europe and USA.  Just not going to happen.

Eventually, the USA will step up the game supporting Ukraine, and Ukraine gets more aggressive with Russia/Russians.  This whole nonsense continues until enough Russian sons are sent to the other side, and then I believe the Russian people will rise up and depose Putin.  And then his replacement back tracks from the aggressive posture.

Lithuania Blocks Russian Rail To Kaliningrad

Lawrence Person's BattleSwarm Blog 6/21/2022

https://www.battleswarmblog.com/?p=51746

EU and NATO member Lithuania has announced that they’re applying international sanctions to rail traffic that crosses their territory from Russia (via Belarus) to the Russian enclave of Kaliningrad.

Lithuania has begun a ban on the rail transit of goods subject to European Union sanctions to the Russian far-western exclave of Kaliningrad, transport authorities in the Baltic nation said on June 18.

The EU sanctions list includes coal, metals, construction materials, and advanced technology.

Anton Alikhanov, the governor of the Russian oblast, said the ban would cover around 50 percent of the items that Kaliningrad imports.

Alikhanov said the region, which has an ice-free port on the Baltic Sea, will call on Russian federal authorities to take tit-for-tat measures against the EU country for imposing the ban. He said he would also seek to have more goods sent by ship to the oblast.

The importance to Kaliningrad is that it’s Russia’s only ice-free port on the Baltic Sea and home to the Russian Baltic fleet at Baltiysk.

Anyone who remembers the history of the Cold War knows that there’s no love lost between Lithuanians and Russia.

Plus a bit on Europe abandoning their green delusions to embrace coal, and how German accounting chicanery artificially inflates the amount of renewable energy they’re actually generating and ignore a lot of coal generation for official figures.

Interesting times…
