The other thing the Left is ignoring, is that not everyone drives on paved roads to get where they are going, and those roads often aren't clear. A stock F-150 has normal ground clearance in these parts for getting where you need to go most days, and the tire sizes, body lifts, suspensions, etc. get higher and larger from there. If you want something that can get through 99.999% of the time, drive something on the order of a surplus deuce and a half, but most families here select vehicles based on what will get them home or where they need to go in the worst conditions, and will carry whatever they need to haul, too.
While city pickups driven by boutique cowboys elsewhere might do just fine and actually be optional except for their status symbol value, working pickups (about half of the ones out there, if not more) are selected based on the job that needs to be done and survivability in the worst conditions.
A prius? Nope.
