Officials admit failure of promised treatment-center alternative

When Oregon voters approved a ballot measure in 2020 to decriminalize hard drugs, they were promised the lives of everyone would be improved and funds would be diverted to addiction recovery centers for which $300 million was allotted.

But after more than one year, the rate of overdoses has spiked, and few offenders have used the treatment centers, DailyMail.com reported.

At a legislative hearing Thursday, Steve Allen, Oregon's behavioral health director, acknowledged a "dramatic" increase in overdoses and overdose deaths statewide. One Republican state lawmaker said that her Southern Oregon community of Grants Pass has suffered a 700% increase in overdoses and a 120% increase in deaths.

....hmm... well, those who have been caught with drugs need to be given a ultimatum. Either go through the rehabilitation and recovery programs or serve hard time.  No exceptions and each person needs to be assigned a social worker to ensure that they go through the programs.

I'm not exactly sure what these new laws state, but obviously with the spike in overdoses, those laws aren't working.

Romans 12:16-21

Live in harmony with one another; do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly, do not claim to be wiser than you are.  Do not repay anyone evil for evil, but take thought for what is noble in the sight of all.  If it is possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all…do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

Agreed. The OD deaths more than doubled. While there are those who would (somewhat coldly) argue that is a self-fixing problem, we have no idea how many of those deaths were due to fentanyl substitution for or adulteration of other drugs.

Seventeen Techniques for Truth Suppression

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

Meanwhile, NYC encourages addicts to use drugs in groups, not alone, and, "Don't be ashamed you are using, be empowered that you are using safely." Yeah, that will prevent ODs.

Oregon’s Decriminalization Of Small Amounts Of Hard Drugs Increased Overdoses by 700%
by Warner Todd Huston And Jeff Dunetz | Jun 6, 2022 | U.S. News

In the extremely liberal state of Oregon, during the 2020 election, citizens had the chance to vote on a measure decriminalizing the possession of small amounts of hard drugs such as heroin, coke, and meth. It was called Measure 110, and 59% of Oregonians voted YES. And wouldn’t you know it, since it was implemented overdoses soared 700 percent.

Who’d have thought it?

We can’t just blame the bleeding heart leftist politicians for this. It was the idiot, bleeding heart voters who agreed to this foolishness. ... Lidblog

Liberalism is a mental illness.  Let's start there.  The liberal insanity is directly responsible for people dying prematurely.

With the exception of about 4-5 counties in Oregon, the state is grossly over populated with insane liberals.  There is no logic to their actions, just pure foolishness and idiocy.  But then again, they are in good company with the band of morons running our federal government.  DESTRUCTION is the key word, and will remain so for the next 2.5 years.  Destruction of the country, destruction of lives, destruction of our energy, destruction of our markets, etc.  When these liberal b*st*rds are done, we will be lucky to be alive.
