Exactly. It's to stop the next reptile brain.
That hasn't worked very well, has it? Do mass shooters generally watch TV news?

Just a question, not judging either way:

The shooter was wearing body armor and was firing a 7.26 bullet from a semi-automatic weapon.
You, OTOH, have just a protective vest, no helmet and a Glock 9mm pistol.
After receiving fire, do you retreat and wait for back-up?

Or, in hindsight, do you find another window/classroom entrance that for a line-of-sight on him?  (With just a pistol and no extra clips)

WATCH: Texas Police Spox on Live TV Confirmed Cops Went In for Their Own Kids During Uvalde Shooting
By Tommy ChristopherMay 26th, 2022, 12:34 pm

Texas Department Public Safety spokesman Lt. Christopher Olivarez confirmed to a reporter during a live shot that police officers went into Robb Elementary School to get their own children during the massacre.

Amid outrage over reports that frantic families who complained about police inaction during the massacre were held back by police, a clip of a live interview with Olivarez from Tuesday has gone viral.

In the clip, Vanessa Croix of KENS 5 says she’s heard that police went into the school to get their own kids while the shooting was going on, asks Lt. Olivarez about it:

Quote
VANESSA CROIX: And we’ve also heard word that a Border Patrol agent was struck with gunfire. A few officers shot. We’ve heard that some law enforcement officers actually went into school to get their kids out. Can you talk about that?

LT. CHRISTOPHER OLIVAREZ: Right. So what we do know, Vanessa, right now, that there was some police officers, families trying to get their children out of school because it was a active shooter situation right now. It’s a terrible situation right now. And of course, just as we mentioned, the loss of life. It’s just a terrible, it’s a terrible tragedy of another took place. But again, we’ve got to keep acknowledging those brave men and women that actually were there on scene that met this suspect. And, of course, we know that they were met with gunfire. Some of them were shot. But at the end of this, the suspect was shot, is now deceased. The threat is now neutralized.

The clip was flagged by prominent Twitter users like Democratic comms operative Sawyer Hackett and New York Times Evan Hill, and went viral:

And the "males" were busy arresting parents who said "Eff you, I'm saving my baby!"

@Cyber Liberty

Yeah, probably a good thing for both them AND me that I wasn't one of the parents.

  • I don't believe in Trump anymore, he's an illusion
On TV news tonight, I kept hearing references to "the shooter" or "the 18-year-old," and not to RAMOS. Were they afraid to say his name, for fear of offending his particular ethic group (whatever it is)?
Not his ethnic group, I mean he went in and slaughtered 21 of his ethnic group so I doubt they could be more offended than that. It's liberals not wanting to have to go against the liberal crap of shooters being racist White supremacists, it's been rough on them with what 3 of the last 4 mass murderers being non Whites? I guess that's why ABC used the sick trick of lightening Ramos's skin tone in pictures.

Actually I wouldn't mind if they just referred to him as that sick son of bitch.

Chuck Schumer BLOCKS school safety bill—says 'gun legislation' is the answer
May 26, 2022

The bill would have charged the Department of Homeland Security with establishing standards for best practices in the area of school safety, and to "collect clearinghouse data analytics, user feedback on the implementation of best practices and recommendations identified by the clearinghouse, and any evaluations conducted on these best practices and recommendations."

According to Fox News, "after the horrific mass shooting at a Uvalde, Tex., elementary school that killed 19 children and two teachers, Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI) asked for the Luke and Alex School Safety Act to be passed by unanimous consent."

Schumer, however, commented publicly that he felt that the bill would lead to "more guns in schools," and believes that gun control legislation is the solution, saying on Twitter:

Quote
GOP Sen. Johnson just tried for a bill that could see more guns in schools—I blocked it.

The truth: There were officers at the school in Texas. The shooter got past them.

We need real solutions—We will vote on gun legislation starting with the Domestic Terrorism Prevention Act.

Here's some more info on Ramos:

Texas school shooter Salvador Ramos once cut up his face with knives ‘just for fun,’ friends say

Yaron Steinbuch  |  May 25, 2022 8:03am

. . . Friends and relatives also said Ramos had been bullied throughout middle school for a speech impediment – a stutter and lisp, according to the Washington Post.

His cousin Mia said she saw students mocking his impediment during middle school, where he tried at first to ignore the bullying but then told his grandmother that he didn’t want to go back to school. . .

. . . Childhood friend Stephen Garcia told the paper that Ramos “would get bullied hard, like bullied by a lot of people. Over social media, over gaming, over everything.

“He was the nicest kid, the most shiest kid. He just needed to break out of his shell,” he said, adding that Ramos was once subjected to homophobic slurs after posting a photo of himself wearing black eyeliner.

Garcia said he tried to defend his friend before moving with his mother to another part of the state for her job.

“He just started being a different person. He kept getting worse and worse, and I don’t even know,” he told the paper.

Ramos soon began wearing all black, walked in large military boots and grew out his hair, according to the report.

Nadia Reyes, another high school classmate, told the paper that Ramos recently posted an Instagram Story of himself yelling at his mom, who he said was trying to kick him out of their home.

“He posted videos on his Instagram where the cops were there and he’d call his mom a b—- and say she wanted to kick him out,” she told the paper. “He’d be screaming and talking to his mom really aggressively.”  . . .

. . . Flores and several other people familiar with the family said Ramos’ mother used drugs, which contributed to the trouble at home, according to the Washington Post, which said it could not reach her for comment.

Ramos moved to his grandmother’s home across town a few months ago, according to Flores, who said he last saw the grandmother Sunday when she stopped by the mom’s Hood Street property, which she also owned.

He said she told him she was in the process of evicting Ramos’ mother because of her drug issues. . . .

It looks like the mother lived in the same town.  I had not seen that reported anywhere.  I am assuming that the grandmother was her mother.  But having your grandmother evict your mother from her home had to have an effect on Ramos.

According to the officer in the video below, "several officers were shot".  Do we have a count of how many police officers were wounded from gunfire?

@Right_in_Virginia

If each and every police officer received boot camp training like Marines, your first question would be valid.

But most cops in that county can go their entire career without pulling their weapon. Their first instinct? Survive.

Seems only in movies will you find a "Dirty Harry".

As to your 2nd question, it is truly unbelievable that it took a couple of Border Patrol agents who happened to be in the general area,  to pitch in.

(Glenn Beck took dramatic license and said the Border Patrol came upon the school, their reins whipping any illegal that got in the way)

“The police were doing nothing,” said Angeli Rose Gomez, who after learning about the shooting drove 40 miles to Robb Elementary School, where her children are in second and third grade. “They were just standing outside the fence. They weren’t going in there or running anywhere.”

Ms. Gomez, a farm supervisor, said that she was one of numerous parents who began encouraging—first politely, and then with more urgency—police and other law enforcement to enter the school. After a few minutes, she said, federal marshals approached her and put her in handcuffs, telling her she was being arrested for intervening in an active investigation.

Ms. Gomez convinced local Uvalde police officers whom she knew to persuade the marshals to set her free. Around her, the scene was frantic. She said she saw a father tackled and thrown to the ground by police and a third pepper-sprayed. Once freed from her cuffs, Ms. Gomez made her distance from the crowd, jumped the school fence, and ran inside to grab her two children. She sprinted out of the school with them.

The cops were not just standing still listening to kids getting slaughtered.

They were also busy restraining any parents from trying to save their kids, even arresting some.

And if the reports that cops got their own kids out of school as a priority, then damn them mightily for not helping others.

  • Not an actual picture of me
Personally, I don't think that a bunch of untrained, unequipped cops getting shot & killed would have done much to save those kids.

But at least then we would have had a bunch of dead cops to cry over along with the dead children, and I suppose that would have made some people in this country happy.
Let it burn.
