Federal judge blocks Biden admin from ending Title 42 border expulsions
There were more than 234,000 migrant encounters in April
By Adam Shaw | Fox News

A federal judge on Friday temporarily blocked the Biden administration from ending the Title 42 public health order on May 23 -- stopping the administration from a move that had seen significant Republican and Democratic opposition amid fears it would exacerbate the border crisis.

Judge Robert Summerhays, in the Western District of Louisiana, granted a preliminary injunction on the Biden administration’s plan to end the order on May 23. It was in response to a lawsuit by two dozen Republican states, led by Arizona, Louisiana and Missouri.

"Today’s ruling is a significant win as Title 42 is one of the few policies that is actually working," said Arizona Attorney General Mark Brnovich. "I’m grateful to the court for upholding the rule of law and helping maintain some level of sanity as we continue to battle the Biden-made border crisis."

Title 42 will continue for now, but the migrant surge continues. According to an internal Border Patrol memo, Chief Ortiz is laying the groundwork for the mass release of migrants into the country:

Border Patrol Chief Raul Ortiz instructed agency leadership on how the agency plans to release migrants amid a border surge, according to a memo sent Thursday exclusively obtained by The Daily Caller News Foundation.

In the memo, which was sent to chief patrol agents and directorate chiefs, Ortiz recognized that Border Patrol faces a “current migrant surge and is preparing for the anticipated increase in encounters of undocumented noncitizens following the anticipated lifting of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s [CDC] Title 42 public health order.”

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention planned to lift Title 42, the policy used to quickly expel certain migrants during the COVID-19 pandemic, on May 23. However, a federal judge ruled Friday in the favor of Republican attorneys general who sought to pause the public health order. ...

“To the extent possible,” migrants should be released near nongovernmental organizations (NGOs), he said, adding that liaison officers will help agents “identify in advance the specific location which are most appropriate for the releases, paying particular attention to the availability of services and transportation options.” ...

Court ruling extends Title 42, continuing unequal treatment for asylum-seekers
Politics May 23, 2022 12:44 PM EDT

EAGLE PASS, Texas (AP) — As the sun set over the Rio Grande, about 120 Cubans, Colombians and Venezuelans who waded through waist-deep water stepped into Border Patrol vehicles, soon to be released in the United States to pursue their immigration cases.

Across the border in the Mexican town of Piedras Negras, Honduran families banded together in a section of downtown with cracked sidewalks, narrow streets and few people, unsure where to spend the night because city’s only shelter was full.

The opposite fortunes illustrate the dual nature of U.S. border enforcement under pandemic rules, known as Title 42 and named for a 1944 public health law. President Joe Biden wanted to end those rules Monday, but a federal judge in Louisiana issued a nationwide injunction that keeps them intact.

I have always maintained keeping "people of color" from entering this country only to keep a dangerous disease from infecting wide populations is nothing but racist!  How can Americans be so selfish as to exclude "people of color" only because they're infected by a killer disease! OMGGGGGGG
