Jan. 6 panel issues subpoenas to five GOP lawmakers
by Mychael Schnell - 05/12/22 1:23 PM ET

The House select committee investigating the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the Capitol issued subpoenas to five Republican members of Congress on Thursday as the panel prepares for a slate of public hearings next month.

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) and Reps. Scott Perry (R-Pa.), Jim Jordan (R-Ohio), Andy Biggs (R-Ariz.) and Mo Brooks (R-Ala.) received subpoenas.

Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-Miss.), the chairman of the Jan. 6 panel, said the committee decided to issue subpoenas after the GOP lawmakers refused the opportunity to speak with the lawmakers voluntarily.

“The Select Committee has learned that several of our colleagues have information relevant to our investigation into the attack on January 6th and the events leading up to it. Before we hold our hearings next month, we wished to provide members the opportunity to discuss these matters with the committee voluntarily. Regrettably, the individuals receiving subpoenas today have refused and we’re forced to take this step to help ensure the committee uncovers facts concerning January 6th,” Thompson said in a statement.

“We urge our colleagues to comply with the law, do their patriotic duty, and cooperate with our investigation as hundreds of other witnesses have done,” he added.

Dem. Rep. Lofgren: More Subpoenas for Other Members of House, Senate ‘Possible’

Pam Key 12 May 2022

Representative Zoe Lofgren (D-CA) said Thursday on MSNBC’s “Deadline” that it is “possible” the House Select Committee investigating the riot at the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021, will send out more subpoenas for members of the House and Senate.

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) Reps. Jim Jordan (R-OH), Andy Biggs(R-AZ), Mo Brooks (R-AL) and Scott Perry (R-PA) were subpoenaed today.

Lofgren said, “We had hoped that these members would come in upon request. If you look historically, mostly if committees want to talk to a fellow member and they ask them, and they come in. That didn’t happen in this case. Now we have information from other sources that lead us to believe that each one of these individuals who are colleagues have information the committee needs.”

She added, “We have interviewed over a thousand people. We’ve got hundreds, over hundreds, thousands of documents, we have a lot of information that leads to certain conclusions. But these members were in the meetings. They were the ones that had the conversations. We want them to come in and tell what they know. This is a great opportunity for them to do that. And now it is a legal obligation for them to do that.”

Anchor Nicolle Wallace asked, “Could there be more subpoenas for other members of House and or Senate?”

Lofgren said, “It’s possible.”

So what she's saying is they don't have jack except for hearsay and they want those subpoenaed to testify and hopefully implicate themselves in some way. Boy the democrats sure cried like babies when they accused McCarthy of doing what they are actually doing.
