They were not wrong ... predicted catastrophe's were averted by people and governments heeding their warning.
The catastrophe's would have occurred if warnings were ignored.
That's the vapid logic used by professionals and consultants who make a living from screaming "the sky is falling" or "wolf" to justify their existence and paychecks.
Imagine how many people could have died from shoe bombs on airplanes if the TSA had not made us take off shoes to be scanned. TSA making us take off shoes was successful because no one has been harmed by a shoe bomb on an airplane.
