New Florida Law Bans Abortion After 15 Weeks of Pregnancy

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) signed legislation into law today that prohibits abortion after 15 weeks of pregnancy, except in cases where the mother's life is at risk or the baby has a fatal abnormality. The law is similar to one in Mississippi, whose constitutionality is now being decided by the U.S. Supreme Court.

At a signing ceremony, DeSantis said, "We are here today to protect life. We are here today to defend those who can't defend themselves."

House Bill 5, he continued, "protects the rights of unborn children, starting at 15 weeks. This is a time when babies have beating hearts, they can move, they can taste, they can see, they can feel pain, they can suck their thumbs, and they have brain waves. So, this will represent the most significant protections for life that have been enacted in this state in a generation."................

NBC has no shame.  I applaud DeSantis

NBC covers Florida's 15-week abortion ban by trotting out activist wearing 'Thank God for Abortion' shirt

NBC News on Friday provided unabashedly biased coverage of Florida's newly-implemented abortion ban, giving air time to guests that called the law "cruel" and donned clothing that thanked God for the ability to terminate a pregnancy.

The ban, signed into law on Thursday by Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, bans the performance of most abortions after 15 weeks and comes amid a wave of new abortion limits passed in Republican-controlled states.

In many instances, the new laws are being implemented in preparation for a pro-life ruling from the Supreme Court this summer that could overturn Roe v. Wade. The laws, along with the mere possibility of abortion rights being rolled back at a national level, have sparked outrage among abortion advocates.
