Haiti - FLASH : USA announces the lifting of the border migration restriction under «Title 42» The United States announced Friday, April 1st, the lifting as of May 23, 2022, of the immigration restrictions under "Title 42" put in place at the start of the pandemic. These restrictions have allowed for more than 2 years the immediate expulsion of migrants arrested at the border without the possibility of filing an asylum application on American soil. Only unaccompanied minors could stay in the United States.
This decision was taken by the health authorities after considering the current public health conditions and the greater availability of tools to fight Covid.
Migrant rights organizations welcomed the decision.
A decision that should increase the arrivals of migrants at the southern border of the United States, already at a historic level.
