A Democratic Rhode Island congressional candidate named Michael Neary, 28, was arrested after allegedly stalking and terrorizing an Ohio couple for seventy miles while they were driving, forcing them to call the police to report that they were being aggressively followed.
The incident occurred on March 22, according to the Dayton Daily News, as the couple was driving home after visiting their son in Florida. The wife, Candy Poland, was reportedly so frightened she couldn’t even talk to the police.
“It should be noted, Candy was petrified,” the police report read, according to the Boston Globe, “stating Harold would need to explain what happened because she could not talk.”
The husband described the silver Hyundai to the police and said it was closely following them, flashing lights at them, and refused to stop even when they pulled off the road to let him pass.
