GOP Senate Candidate Accused of Domestic Violence
By Bonchie | Mar 21, 2022 2:45 PM ET

Who could have possibly predicted this except for anyone who knows anything about Missouri senate candidate Eric Greitens?

After rising to the governorship following the 2016 election, Greitens resigned less than two years later. He made that move due to an affair and allegations of revenge porn coupled with a scandal surrounding campaign donors.

Quote
However, Greitens resigned in May of 2018 following scandal/controversy involving an affair with his hairdresser and allegations that he photographed her in a state of undress and threatened to publish the photo(s) if she revealed the affair, as well as allegations regarding the improper use of a campaign donor list.  He was facing likely impeachment, a move supported by the majority of his fellow Republicans in Missouri.

Despite that, and likely because of his high name-ID and drafting off his support for Donald Trump, Greitens has risen to the top of the GOP primary heap. That may be about to change, though. New allegations have emerged involving Greitans and domestic abuse.

Greitens digs in after ex-wife's allegations

Former Missouri Gov. Eric Greitens (R) said his ex-wife’s allegations of domestic abuse on Monday were false, and insisted “truth will always prevail.”

Greitens, running for the GOP nomination to serve his state in the Senate, said in a statement on Monday that he will seek full custody of his sons, and that he will “pray for their mother and hope that she gets the help that she needs.”

“I will continue to love and care for my beautiful sons with all of being, and that includes fighting for the truth and against completely fabricated, baseless allegations,” Greitens said in his statement.

Hawley says Greitens should drop out of Senate race amid abuse allegations
By Kelsey Carolan - 03/21/22 04:22 PM EDT

Sen. Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) on Monday said Missouri GOP Senate candidate and former governor Eric Greitens should drop out of the race after his ex-wife accused him of abusing her and and their children while they were married.

“If you hit a woman or a child, you belong in handcuffs, not the United States Senate,” Hawley tweeted. “It’s time for Eric Greitens to leave this race.”

In court documents made public Monday, Greitens’s ex-wife accused him of knocking her down, taking away her phone and keys, physically abusing their children and threatening suicide if she did not publicly support him during the scandal that led him to resign as Missouri governor.

He resigned in 2018 over claims he sexually assaulted and blackmailed his hairdresser. He insisted that their interactions were consensual, but a state legislative investigation deemed the allegations of abuse credible.

Who knows if the abuse allegations are real. There was a friend of mine who successfully got full custody of his daughter and the baby mama had mental health issues and tried to accuse him and everyone else of not only abusing her but the daughter.

But it does sound like he’s got other problems although accusations with a 911 call didn’t seem to hurt Keith Ellison
